Default JJ First hand of sng

Ok this is a $10 45-player sng, first hand I get JJ and decide to play it a bit differently than normal. Is my play terrible?

    Button (t1500)
    Hero (t1500)
    BB (t1500)
    UTG (t1500)
    UTG+1 (t1500)
    MP1 (t1500)
    MP2 (t1500)
    MP3 (t1500)
    CO (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J, J.
    UTG raises to t80, UTG+1 calls t80, 3 folds, CO calls t80, 1 fold, Hero calls t70, 1 fold.

Very early in a sng with this much action in front I will sometimes play JJ and TT like any mid/low PP just for set-hunting with the added benefit of possibly holding on its own and having an all-under flop.

    Flop: (t340) T, T, 3 (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets t120, UTG+1 folds, CO folds, Hero raises to t320, UTG calls t200.

Is a check/raise here terrible? I strongly believed one of the 3 players to act after me would bet and do I get more information here? I see how much the player bets then see how he reacts to my raise.

    Turn: (t980) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets t500, UTG raises to t1100, Hero calls t600 (All-In).

After his weak flop bet and only calling my raise I figured most of the time I'm ahead and bet 500 as a value bet (pot commits myself but like I said I feel I'm ahead)

    Terrible?

UTG's play is puzzling. he puts in a 4xBB raise pre-flop, follows that up with a raise on the flop that is less than 1/2 the pot, then calls a 3/4 pot size bet.

I think I am done with this hand after his flop call. This is played like a donk would play A's or K's.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

I think the preflop call is fine, I play it the same. I can't see myself folding JJ given the implied odds with 3 others in the hand if you hit your set.

Given you're OOP on the flop with 3 opps, I think the check/raise is fine to see whether UTG is FOS. However, I think after UTG calls you, you're done with the hand.

On the turn, do you really think that UTG would push over your bet which is almost half your remaining stack without a T or a QQ-AA? UTG has got to know that there's a good chance you're not folding here. That said, if I was still in the hand I'm not calling AI here - the 600 chips that you have behind is still a semi-playable stack at 10/20 blinds.

playing for the set is fine, if you want to go broke with overpair, raise it.

you must look to show down very cheap after he calls the flop.

personlly I probably smooth call the flop bet and see what he does on turn.

Ok, some good points here, thanks guys.

Villain turned over a missed AKo that he couldnt get away from and I won the hand. I think I was lucky here however and more often than not I am beat.

I like this line. Villain is more likely to slow down with a wide range. Often when he shows down QQ-AA your stack isn't destroyed.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
