Default what does his overbet mean?

    PokerStars $20+2 No-Limit Hold'em SnG, Big Blind is t30 (6 handed)

    Staresy (t4605)
    SB (t2030)
    BB (t1010)
    UTG (t1485)
    MP (t2710)
    CO (t1660)

Preflop: Staresy is Button with K, A.
3 folds, Staresy raises to t100, 1 fold, BB calls t70.

    Flop: (t215) 8, 6, 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Staresy bets t120, BB calls t120.

    Turn: (t455) T (2 players)
    BB checks, Staresy checks.

    River: (t455) 5 (2 players)
    BB bets t540, Staresy folds.

    Final Pot: t995

I was so tempted to call this, thinking it might be some sort of busted draw (A7 maybe). How about the check behind on the turn - should I bet again here to find out where I'm at (again, I think I should have). Thoughts?

IMO, doesn't matter what he has, you're thinking about going on A high for a marginal number of chips? With your stack, and how little is invested / could be won, no brainer for me. Sigh a bit because AK missed again, and move on to the next hand.

sorta seems like king kong to me, would you have been so tempted if you had 2000 chips instead? Certainly I prefer turn bet to calling the river, but I think as played is fine and best.

Charidan is over in MTT forum advocating big moves like this with (in this hand) a 5 or the straight. I'm not wild about it but you wanting to call shows the possible value.

If you had AT, maybe you could call. Not with air. A6 may THINK he's trying to move you off a better hand...

why do u think he is beat? I looked over the hand and villian's line is so strange I couldnt put him on a hand.

What would you think about betting the turn? Or after the call on the flop should it be check/fold?

Look at his stack size. I don't know why you'd want to look him up here with Ace high, when he almost certainly has a pocket pair under a ten (or he might have hit the board too).

Edit: actually, I think he has a pair under an 8, not ten.

I would have played it a lot like you, it isnt worth it to call his river bet, dont be surprised to see him with 88 or 77..check the flop and smooth call check the turn waiting for another bet, over bet the river to make it look like a steal. Im not really sure I just know I wouldnt have called

This looks like a classic slow-played set to me. I think, as mentioned above, the river overbet is an attempt to look weak by trying too hard to look strong, or something. Call it the "methinks thou dost protest too much" bet. Especially considering he put himself down to 2 or 300 chips w/ that river bet--why not just push? Very fishy. No need for you to lose any of your stack advantage here.

I call bets like that when I hit any flush , fricken 3 high I call . If hes got a set like samsonite said.. He just let you beat him and take what he just offered.. Its like a peace offering. This doesnt pertain to your hand Staresy .. It pertains to when people overbet the river with a flush on the board.

No .. sorry. I meant to say when people overbet like that ... I will likely call with any made flush. If there is a flushable hand on the board and they checked it out or underbet and then overbet the river. Not pertaining to Staresy's hand. Sorry.

Actually it was a ~ pot sized bet. On the surface it does say "I want this pot now and I don't want to show down."

I think you played it right the whole way. Even pocket 7's would have played it this way.
