Default OESD to check-raise? (PS $5.50)

SB is TAgg. No doubt that he/she has TPGK or better here, I think either two pair or a set is likely. Flush draw unlikely here IMO.

    Fold, call or push?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    SB (t1955)
    Hero (t2805)
    UTG (t2775)
    MP (t1645)
    CO (t2710)
    Button (t1610)

Preflop: Hero is BB with T, 8.
4 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

    Flop: (t425) 2, J, 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t400, SB raises to t800, Hero ?????

Why not take a free card?

well, with your read you have no FE and the worst hand, so push is no good.

If TAG, seems unlikey you'll get a check on river, you need 4/1 to chase next card, you're right on edge. If you think you'll get paid even if flush hits, I would gambol, if not fold.

If opponent is really really tag, meaning they can make a BIG laydown, then you should call and represent either draw. If they really cannot make the big laydown, well, you're getting 1625:400, or the right odds to chase. On the turn, there's gonna be 2,000 chips in the pot, SB will have 955 behind, if a spade hits (hell even if an 8 or T hits), you're probably gonna have to chase.

I think the interesting part of this hand is what does villain do on the turn if a heart lands (assuming not a Q or 7)? If he checks, what's our hero's best line? Do you think he can fold?

I wouldn't be surprised if the SB completed w/a drawing hand and is trying to get a free card from you too w/a check-raise semi bluff. Call here.

If a spade, 8, T, Q, or 7, push the turn. If it's a non heart maybe consider pushing the turn too...

Thanks for the replies. OK, this is what happened next. I figured I wasn't getting the odds to call to hit my OESD on the turn so I had to fold (pot is laying me 3.2 to 1, I need at least 5.75:1 to call). Plus because he's all in, there aren't any implied odds that could help me make the call.

Whatever he had, Villain played the hand very well IMO.

    Flop: (t425) 2, J, 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t400, SB raises to t800, Hero calls t400.

    Turn: (t2025) A (2 players)
SB bets t930 (All-In), Hero folds.

Against a TAgg opponent, I almost always prefer to bet my (non-gutshot) draws. With a check in front, unless they have hit the flop big (at least TPGK) they'll fold. Plus, if opp is drawing to a heart flush, why give them a free card? If the 7 or Q hits I won't be able to get away from it and I lose my whole stack.

Against a LAgg I take a free card all day long.
