cuz we are too cheap to get dsl.

My wife would rather save the $30-40 a month.

Hmm, so I guess it is safe to say that avatar you have isn't a pic of you? Something tells me that guy would have dsl whether his wife liked it or not!

    Sorry, couldn't resist

This is besides the point, but I imagine you would have raised here, ghetto would have reraised and foshio would have pushed.

Would you have even called with JJ anyways?

Char, just take the $30-$40 out of your br each month. Piss on the old lady! Just kidding. Seriously, while you are playing limit each night for your rebuy adventure, also play for your monthly dsl fee. It's that simple.

Meh - I've already suggested that. She thinks it will make me even more "addicted." I don't really want to deal with that battle, so easier just to keep the status quo since dial-up (generally) works fine for playing online, just sucks for everything else.

If it is about money ( doubt full ) and I am sure its not but, If you are claiming the poker on your taxes ( Winnings and losses ) in the US, it can be considered a "second income" there fore having expenses as well. So to upgrade to cable or DLS would be free.. Just the same as buying a new computer, desk, and chair. All are write offs. I read how this works a while back but it does, consult your tax man.
Do not let the last play cloud the current.

    Scroll to bottom.

that is why dial up sucks.
Been playing money poker for 34 years and decided in 2002 to try that TX Holdem game on TV. Then found Pokerstars in Summer 2005. Still not an overall winner but i am on a good trend and nearly there.

its a tremendous liability to play 10/20 holdem and 150$ tournaments with dialup. I couldn't even imagine risking that much on such a sensitive connection.

Why can't you take it out of your winnings?

My roommate and I have digital TV cable and cable modem from the same provider for a reduced rate (about 100 bucks a month)

No cable or DSL options available.

Satellite prohibitively expensive with it's own problems.

Plus I am not a consistent winner.
