Default $22 2nd hand - AQo in MP

2nd hand (yes, someone went out on the first hand), so my only read is that BB is a donk (called a post-flop all-in push with two overs and sucked out). These kinds of hands give me trouble. Is the problem with my pre-flop raise? Should I limp AQo in EP/MP?

Party Poker No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t20/t40 9 players

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: t1880
    UTG+1: t2000

    CO: t2000
    Button: t1980

    Pre-flop: (9 players) zook is MP1 with Q A
2 folds, zook raises to t150, 2 folds, CO calls t150 (pot was t210), 2 folds, BB calls t110 (pot was t360).

    Flop: 3 5 8 (t470, 3 players)
    BB checks, zook ???

I would fold like vqc said. Limping is also another option I might play.

AQo is a drawing hand this early.

Interesting. Folding didn't occur to me. Good to know.

HOH recommends a mixture of raises and calls for this hand in early or middle position. Are the reasons you advocate folding a) there are a lot of maniacs early in SNGs that won't respect my raise, and b) blinds rise quickly so you want to save your chips for bubble play? I understand b, but it also seems like you want to play a FEW hands early a tourney or you won't be able to take advantage of the maniacs.

The reason I fold this preflop is because the blinds are so low and you have a big stack. You will get loose calls because people have so many chips so the fish don't mind pissing away chips as much. AQo is a drawing hand, and has little FE preflop when the blinds are they way they are.

The reason I fold/limp is because look at your predicament now. You totally missed the flop (minus backdoor nutflush/overs) and are in a 470 chip pot. Any C-Bet you try to make here will be a huge part of your, and your opps stacks. It is early and have no reads on people, so you never know if they're fish or solid.

In this hand, you can't afford to C-Bet. I check and hope it checks behind me. I fold to a bet. You still have a decent stack with these blinds. If the turn brings an A or Q or I re-evaluate.

Basically what I have learned by playing SnG's is you want to be very very tight early on. My pf raising hands in the first few blind levels is very very small.. AK and QQ+, and that is about it. Maybe JJ in late position/button, but nothing else. If you put a lot of chips into the pot you want to have a good hand to go along with it. Bluffing or getting sucked into draws early is -EV.
