I don't like checking here. I think you just miss bets by allowing a guy with an Ace to just showdown for free here. He could put you on a busted draw, but would u really play it that hard with a paired board? Plus, can he really be that confident to bet out on that alone?

I think the way you make money is to lead out again.

I think the best play here would be to bet the same 500 as you did on the turn... I think there is a better probability that he'd call that, or read you as weak and push, than if he calls. And a high enough probability that it'll be better long-term than pushing... but that's probably a guess and I don't have any experience w/ $22 speed tourneys (this is a speed right?)
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

    What could he have here?

spade draw, maybe with and A.
    straight draw, KQ, although inside.
Some kinda underpair that refuses to believe you have a 9 or J. He actually could have a big pair here, limped UTG, and is letting YOU hang yourself. (AA!).

A9? What hand does he flat call that turn with? Got to be better than TP, or a spade draw.

I think he bets if you check; might even bluff with a draw.

    I would bet 500 - 1000.

Value bet. The only time checking is correct is when you are sure opp. was on a draw and will take a shot at a bluff when checked to. Otherwise you should be value betting. In this case, I try to bet out enough that opp thought process is "Well, If I'm gonna call that, I might as well just put it all in." About 500 on the river should do it.
