Hand from another site...
So I post on chiptalk.net and participate in some of their tourneys, and one of the people over there recently posted this hand. I think the advice most of the people are giving him is wrong but thought I'd post it here and see what you guys say.
100/200 Blinds, 25 Ante
Hero (4505 chips)
Villain 1 (2980 chips)
Villain 2 (1515 chips)
Hero is SB with J J
Villain 2 calls 200
Hero raises 600 to 800
Villain 1 raises 2155 to 2955 and is all-in
Villain 2 calls 1290 and is all-in
Hero ???
Now I say that a push over his raise and a call by the shortstack indicate that one of them will have him beat most of the time here, or at least in a coinflip (if it were only one opponent). The short stack may not have him beat since he could make that call with TT or AJ, but to call a reraise and a push I don't think this is the case.
The middlestack has no reason to push over his raise without a very good hand, so I don't think he should call both all ins. I think it's better to let them fight it out and if Villain 1 wins I go into heads up with only a slight chip deficit, while if I call and lose, I'm down to about 1500 chips and have to go into push/fold mode.
I would call this with only one push over my raise, but think it's better to get out of the way with my chips and find a better spot. Everyone on this other forum thinks he should call. Would you make this call, or do I have it right to get out of the way?
