Default How are these blind shoves? (PS $11 and $6.50)

    Hand 1
PS $6 + $0.50 turbo (I suck at these, don't know why I play them). Opp is a TAgg and a pretty solid player. SnGPT says this is +2% EV, the only reason that I'm asking about this one is opp went nuts in the chatbox afterwards...

    UTG (t8140)
    MP (t1125)
    Button (t835)
    Hero (t1535)
    BB (t1865)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4 K.
3 folds, Hero raises to t1535

    Hand 2
PS $10 + $1. Opp is a LAgg bordering on maniac, my guess is that he/she would call me with any pair, any broadway, any K, any Q. Should I just check and hope to hit or shove here? Wait for shorty to bust out? If I've got any hope of taking 1st I need some chips...BTW according to sharkscope opp has lost $3,400 $5.50 and $11 at a time.

1st hand - nice push. I wouldn't do it if opp. was loose like in the second example though. Since opp. is solid tagg, he will only call with a smallish range and it is a +ev push.

2nd hand- I don't like it, because you are gonna get called and even if you are a 2-1 favorite, it isn't a good time for that. I agree that opp. is weak, but since they are calling with any Q or better (and maybe worse), I would check and see a flop. They will most likely lead out if they catch any piece of the flop. I know that the push is +chip EV, but am really curious what the ICM is if we set opp. calling range to any 2 or top 50% of hands. I feel like the numbers may prove my first instincts wrong on this one.

edit: after 2 more seconds of thought, I would need to know that he is calling with any 2 to consider not pushing.

Hand 1 i like, its getting close to the bubble, people are getting worried about busting out, its a pretty good hand and with the villan being tight its a good play in my book.

Hand 2 i dont like. The button only has 4x the BB and would really like to see you make a play for all your chips so he can take 2nd. As previous said id have to know the big stack was playing with trash for this to be a +EV play. I think this is one of those times you gotta take a deep breath and dump the hand unless you hit something decent on the flop. The Button is going to be forced in the next hand or 2 anyway. Even if you were to go all in and win the showdown, your still a lot of chips behind the big stack anyway... sucks but id fold it to aggression unless i hit the flop in a big way.

Hand 2: Check and see if you hit anything. You are practically secured the 2nd place, but if you want to have a shot at 1st you should gamble it up here...

    Hand 1 is fine.

Hand 2 is very bad because of stack sizes.

He should just have checked it right?

That's what I would've done. A smaller raise is probably fine, but you really don't want to get committed here.

Thanks for the replies, I agree the shove was bad, I should have just raised to 450 and played some post-flop poker. I suspected that I pretty much gave away $9 with the shove.

I know results don't matter, but I was going broke here whatever I did. Opp flipped K9, I was happy he got his money in bad, the flop came AK9, nh, gg.
