Default $5/10nl: slight overpair w/ flush draw on monoflop

this one bugged me because i was sure i could have played it better. how do you play this one? no reads on villain, i had just doubled up on a set about 5 hands ago but have only been at table about 20 mins. i didn't feel like i could really raise 99 from UTG at this point in the session so i limped w/ the intention of calling a raise behind. have the overpair w/ one of the suit on the board for a flush draw.

Ok, this level is completely out of my league, but this is the way people at lower levels might play Ad 8x, Ax 8x, overpairs, or even two pair on a scary board. Why would he pot it on the flop and then back off on the the turn? I doubt he flopped the flush--I'd say he has 10's and up and can likely be pushed off w/ a turn push.
    Is this terrible analysis?

    1. lead out on flop
    2. check raise flop
    3. call flop, lead out on turn

    best option and why.

I gotta say, I have no idea where you are. You are either ahead, or behind, with some where between 2-10 outs if you are behind.

Villian has not given you much info, except he probably doesn't have air - and he probably didn't flop the flush and pot it after you checked. Maybe he has 2 overs and no draw, but only if he's very aggressive. The weaker turn bet makes me think he's not really happy about his hand...

I don't like flat calling because unless you river a 9, you can't really have any idea if your flush (diamond hits) or pair is good. Also, there are many bad cards (A/K/Q/J/T not diamonds).... on the other hand, I don't like throwing in a raise and playing a big pot....

I guess calling and check/calling reasonable bets on the river is the way to go here, but frankly, I don't have a clue
