It is basically four of you battling it out for 2 spot right now.

I don't mind rstew's approach as he is basically handing someone the second spot at no huge risk to himself. He either knocks one more out or goes down to 200k and then can stop being retarded.

    You have to call here.

I agree rstew's approach is fine, I think the 'twist' if there is one to this hand is that the UTG short stack has limped in when he 'knows' that rstew is going is coming over the top of him, so I'm thinking he has a strong hand... is that irrelevant seeing as I am a big favourite for the side pot which will still leave me with more chips than I started with if the AK holds up ?

Yes I would think he probably does have a hand also, but it could be 1010-qq also, not necessarily AAKK. As you said you would gain more chips... you need to get more built for second place, I call quickly.

Thanks, I guess I over analysed it and out-thunk myself while I was playing at the table. I used up my time bank and then folded. UTG called with 99, big stack had J9 and the flop was AJx, so UTG did get knocked out but I would have won the hand and calling would have been correct.
5 or 6 hands later I picked up QQ and busted one of the other shorter stacks, then went on to win it (myself and rstew got the seats).

Thanks, unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to win the final tourney tonight, 3 places paid and I finished 12th out of 179, close but no cigar
