    Default Getting Value from Trips...

This morning I reviewed the HH from a tournament I played last night. (UB $1.10) .

(As an aside, before finding FTR I'd have spent the time playing another tourney, but now you people have me STUDYING for Gosh sake! )

    Two simular hands:

    hand 1)

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    UTG+1 (t1155)
    MP1 (t885)
    MP2 (t4195)
    MP3 (t2025)
    CO (t1370)
    Button (t1450)
    SB (t1440)
    Hero (t1080)
    UTG (t1400)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4, 9.
    2 folds, MP2 calls t30, 1 fold, CO calls t30, Button calls t30, 1 fold, Hero checks.

    Flop: (t135) 2, 6, 4 (5 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets t30, CO calls t30, Button calls t30, Hero calls t30.

    Turn: (t255) 4 (5 players)
Hero bets t125, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds.

    Final Pot: t380

    hand 2)

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB (t8695)
    BB (t905)
    UTG (t1975)
    Hero (t3425)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q, J.
1 fold, Hero calls t150, SB completes, BB checks.

    Flop: (t450) Q, K, Q (3 players)
SB bets t450, BB folds, Hero goes all in for 3275, SB folds.

I know the push in hand 2 was a bit much.

What are some ways to extract value in these situations?

Hand 1: Dump it on the flop i'd say...

Hand 2: Id reraise to 1200 on the flop... But what about pf, someone might say dump it, your M=15 id might dump it...

But one cant expect to get paid off, if the others have nothing

Hand 1: fold at the flop.

Hand 2: DOnt limp on the button, Id like a raise here to take the blinds if you havent been stealing much. Also since BB has only 900 you have to call his push if you raise.

    Limping sucks.

Fold is reasinable if you feel BB will go allin.

Really? I figured that 30 to win 225 (7.5 to 1?) was odds enough for my 6 or so outs, mid pair and overcard. I checked intending to fold to resistance, but 4 min-bets didn't feel like resistance to me.

I am probably still confused about the role pot odds play at this point.

Hand 2 - I'm raising preflop. On the flop you did go overboard, raising to 1200-1500 would be fine. People dont expect opponents to play trips so fast so many times someone will get sucked in with a king here.

Hand1: The call on the flop is marginal, and I think your bet on the turn is too small, I would bet 3/4 of the pot

Hand2: Reraise to 1000, no need to push
