$2/$5 Live Game Hand

Ok, I went to play at my closest casino tonight. They had 2 tables going, $1/$2 $100 Max and $2/$5 $200 Max. So i'm playing the $2/$5 Game and the following situation comes up.

Table Reads: Table has just switched up a bunch so I don't have many specific reads but the table played pretty much the same every hand believe it or not. The players were very loose preflop, pretty loose on the flop, for some reason extremely tight on the turn. And loose/crazy on the river. Noone re-raised preflop without AA or KK. They would frequently just call with AK or QQ. On the river, if they felt they had the best hand they would frequently bet 2.5x-4x the size of the pot and call an allin.

Stacks:

UTG+2 (Me) - $250
MP+1 ~$750
MP+2 ~$1200
SB ~ $300
BB - $400

Preflop:

I pick up and make a standard raise to $20.
MP+1, MP+2, SB, BB all call.

Flop: (Pot-$100)



I lead out $35. All players quickly call.

Turn: (Pot-$240)



I check. All players check.

River: (Pot-$240)



I bet $70. All players fold.

Thoughts on the turn check? I've seen several players fold to turn bets with flush draws in this spot and announce their hand as such. Prior to this hand I had never had a turn bet called, even after a flop call. My thought is that a Q will most likely bet here and destack on the river, i'll probably getting their stack regardless of if i lead out. With this in mind, I don't want to push a flush draw out because they also will destack if it hits. So considering a Q will pay me regardless and a flush draw would only pay me if I let him see it free, is there any reason to bet here?

I think with shallow stacks and loose players, raising preflop here with 77 is -EV. I also bet way more on the flop, especially since you described them as loose. I would bet $90-100. Then it's very easy to get the money in, since nearly half your stack is in the middle already. I would also bet something on the turn. Doesn't need to be huge, since you have the deck almost crippled, but $75-100 would be good I think. Then river is auto-shove. As played, I would shove the river, and hope one of them had the flush draw.

I bet the turn for sure, maybe $35 again. Seems like the game is super loose and there are probably people on straight draws (JT). If they miss their draws on the river, they will not call any bet. If you bet the turn, they will probably continue to chase. The same thing applies to flush draws (of course no one had one this hand).

Edit: Somehwo I missed the bottom part of your post with the folding draws thing. Still, if you bet $35 in to a $240 pot, you should be pricing them in to call with a flush draw.

I think you have to bet this turn. only hand you are really scared of is QKo yet given the preflop and postflop play its a longshot.

Why I bet turn:
-pricing draws, you wont get money out of them on river
- maximize value when opponent has queen
You're raise can still mean a wide range of hands, and you're opponents have deep enough stacks that they are not pot commited. So if you checked and they bet and you called or reraised then that indicates alot of strength. DO you see why you have to lead out here....check-calling/raising should only be done to maximize value versus bluffs, but when you're opponent has a second2best hand bet out!

Get more money into the pot on the flop and turn. People CALL too much in these games.

Kx might look you up and Qx will trap himself for a double up if you bet.

Is there a reason you didn't bet more on the flop? Or was this standard the way the game was playing out?

And yeah, if they're all gonna fold on the turn and go ballistic on the river - weird play imho - then let them see the river lol

checking turn is fine when the players are right, but like fnord said at this live game they are probably calling too much
