Default Was this the wrong call?

Ok were getting down to like 7 players real tight just push/fold , push fold ive pushed a lot with no callers. This guy pushes all in with his stack, i Instant call from the BB. Bad call? 2 were on away with alright stacks. I instant called this with 99. Now my M was indeed 4, but was it the right call? With A/j or a/q id probably fold, anything less then 8's i folded. Am i wrong here?

no this wasnt a bad call. he has 5bb and probably is pushing hands like A5+, 22+, and hands you flip with.

    dont be results oriented.

It is an SNGPT problem. What range do you put opp on?

I just ran it through SNGPT and even on the tightest pushing range (66+, ATs+, AJo+) it is +0.5% EV, and I agree with fjuanl that opp's range is likely wider than this. Using fjuanl's range it is +2.4%

Fine. You need chips too. This is a way to double up or get crippled in a good situation.

Interesting this would probably be the lowest hand to call in this situation other then 99 10 10 jj qq kk aa or possible ak

    But no aq aj a10

Dude you need to get SNGPT, this will calculate the answers for you. It all depends on the range with which you think opp would push.

    - If villain's pushing range is TT+, AJ+ you should call with TT+, AQs+ and AKo
    - If villain's pushing range is 66+, ATs+, AJo+ you should call with 88+ and AQ+
    - If villain's pushing range is 44+, A7s+, A9o+ and KJs you should call with 66+, AJo+, ATs+
    - If villain's pushing range is what fjuanl said (22+, A2s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A2o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo), you should call with 22+, A5o+, A2s+, KJo+, KTs+, QJs.

It's great - download it and do the tutorial before you register it for full usage.

yeah, think Taipan has done a great job of explaining this one!

Incidentally, if you don't want to get SNGPT (although I think you should) then you should definitely learn about ICM. All you need for that is PokerStove (free) and something like Excel. Takes slightly longer, but is free to set up.
