Anyone else make this call?

Well, early stages of MTT, the 2 guys ahead of me were big stacks at table and I knew I was facing at least one flush draw, was hoping for 2 to cut down on number of cards left.

I think I made the right call when looking at the finish of it and there being only 6 cards that could beat me and 4 that would outright win it for me apart from the fact I was ahead at the river but I'm wondering how anyone else would have played it differently given it put the tournament life on the line fairly early in.

I guess 77 is possible but I wouldn't put anyone on KK. I call this everyday of the week and pay off 77. Shame on them for calling.

You posted results. Just because you lost doesn't mean you should think you made a bad call. I could never get away from this hand.

Yeah, my thinking when I was looking at making the all-in call was that I had gotten the result I was after (ie all the money in with the set I was trying to flop), that the board mean someone either had a flush draw (and most likley one had the Ad) or someone had hit 2 pair or the set.

I tried running some quick figures and assumed I had to dodge a diamond and probably could rule out kings pairing giving me the win. I didn't think about the straight and given it had to runner-runner to get me I don't feel too bad about that.

As you said, I don't mind losing this had as I'd pay off 7-7 all day with it as well, I was wondering in the context of a mtt early stage if it was worth the risk and if my thinking about outs was right (though given the figures in your post it seems like that same situation is +EV)

I think this is actually a worse call even though I won and have gotten back in contention, though given my stack size and blinds I think it's acceptable.
