    I thought it was good...

    Edit: even if you read him as a small pair it was good... only 77+ and A8+ had you in a bad posistion... and his range was a lot wider than that.

    Yeah, kinda my thinking too. But he could easily have had A8+, but the pot and my situation leaned it towards the call I guess. I'll second-guess that more later

    I think you would prefer a higher kicker than a 7... but at some point "any ace will do". Or is that not poker???
  36. #36
    me personally, I would need a better kicker here 10 and up.

    He's already in the bigblind. So his pot odds here are 32535/82770 = 39%. If his A7 has an equity of over 39% against his opps' range it was a good call.

    So really the question here is what range do you put your opp on.

    Here's a plausible range with an M less than 5:

    Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

    7,356,057,984 games 8.906 secs 825,966,537 games/sec

    Board:
    Dead:

    equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
    Hand 1: 47.0343 % 42.23% 04.80% { A7o }
    Hand 2: 52.9657 % 48.17% 04.80% { 22+, A2s+, K9s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T8s+, 97s+, 87s, 76s, 65s, A2o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo, T9o }

    Even with a tighter range (any pair, any broadway, A7+) makes the call fine:

    Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

    5,116,364,352 games 5.938 secs 861,630,911 games/sec

    Board:
    Dead:

    equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
    Hand 1: 41.5958 % 38.14% 03.46% { A7o }
    Hand 2: 58.4042 % 54.94% 03.46% { 22+, A7s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A7o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo }

    I had to come up with what I consider to be a pretty tight range to get less than 39%:

    Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

    4,191,720,192 games 4.875 secs 859,840,039 games/sec

    Board:
    Dead:

    equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
    Hand 1: 38.6880 % 36.61% 02.08% { A7o }
    Hand 2: 61.3120 % 59.23% 02.08% { 22+, A8s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A8o+, KJo+, QJo }
