Default Three-betting preflop in the mid-stakes.

To this point I have very rarely ever stuck in a third raise preflop, like say raising with AA/KK or any PP and if somebody reraises me I usually just will call and take a flop. I think that unless you three bet PF often it gives away the strength of your hand, basically telling them you have Aces or Kings. With that said, there was a situation that came up yesterday where I felt obliged to three bet. Beandip had called a ton of my raises in position, and he was a total fish. He was pretty easy to bet out of pots for the most part, so it wasn't a big deal.

Anyways here is the HH. http://www.pokerhand.org/?326516

We all had slightly deeper stacks than normal, and the reraiser had us both covered. His reraise was very small however and I figured that if I just called then beandip would call as well, and I didn't want to play the hand multiway and lose a lot of chips if I got outflopped, so I put in a third raise to drive beandip out and maybe I was lucky enough that the reraiser had KK or QQ and couldn't let them go, or wanted to take a flop with AK. If it was just me and the reraiser I would probably have just called his raise and gone from there, but the guy in the middle sorta complicates the hand. Is a reraise here pretty mandatory to protect my hand even if I give away that I have a monster?

    Three betting, eh?

My favorite hand to 3 bet is AK. If they call and that A, K falls on the flop I'm then either winning or losing a stack b/c I'm playing it hard.

With AA and KK it depends.
If a TAG raises I'll just go ahead and call with AA. TAGGS love to c-bet. I'll then just minraise him and wait for this next move.

I'll look for the hand [but I think my pc crashed on this round therefore not saving the hand history]. A regular player at party poker [who I have pegged as TAGG] raises 6x BigBlind.

I called and did NOT reraise with AA. IF I raise this hand, it might make it easier for him to fold a AQ, JJ, QQ on a bad flop... so I just went ahead and called.

The flop was T53 with a flush draw. He bets and I simply min raise.
    He pushes.... I call.....

He had KK and I win with AA.
I think this is just one of those hands he might have lost his stack with.

Anyhow.. this is one of those times where I thought it was good NOT 3bet with my AA.

I've learned to 3bet with AK b/c it's a GREAT hand preflop, not so much afterwards.
So as long as I can get my $ in then.. I'll continue to do so

In the hand you posted I reraise because of the cold caller AND becuase you're out of position.

    However, I'd probably raise more.....
The pot is about what... 34 when the betting gets back to you?

I make it 90, buwhahhahaa..... and hope I can get the "call reflex"

In that situation I think you have to reraise. You just won $30 or 15BB without seeing a flop. Not as good as stacking somebody but still a good result.
