    Default Wondering about this hand

Villian is a very agressive player who came to the table and immediately doubled his buyin in one circuit by betting strong and seeing every flop. He chased people out of a lot of pots but the cards he showed down with were weak - he sucked out a couple of times. I'll explain my thinking as we go:

    rb7152 folds.
    basa45: gh i had KJ
C1234e did not respond in time.
    C1234e folds.
    dbatema8 calls [$0.25].
I limp with low pairs hoping to see a cheap flop.

    ** Dealing Flop ** [ Ac, 6h, 9d ]
    dbatema8: no you didn't
(he had just lied about the cards he had previous hand where he got beat in a showdown - I guess he doesn't know they show them)
    dutts26OZ checks.
    dbatema8 checks.
    basa45 checks.

Thinking - okay, I've got two pair, nobody bet the flop so let's make a bet and see what happens. Probably should have bet more but...
    basa45 calls [$0.50].
    Allkopa1 folds.
    ac021111 folds.
    dutts26OZ folds.
    ** Dealing River ** [ 3h ]
    dbatema8 bets [$0.25].
So there's is lots on the board but I'm going to see what he does and force him to react.
    basa45 raises [$2.50].
Now I'm suspicious because it looks like he's trying to buy the pot. He chased out others before and calls to the river. However, any ace, nine or six has me beat. However, if he had flopped aces or had trip sixes on the turn, he would have bet or raised me unless he was trapping. Which obviously he was. If anything I got played quite well.
    dbatema8 calls [$2.25].
basa45 shows [ Qh, Qc ] two pairs, queens and sixes.
    dbatema8 doesn't show [ 7c, 7d ] two pairs, sevens and sixes.
basa45 wins $7 from the main pot with two pairs, queens and sixes.

So no preflop raise with pocket queens but he had raised preflop with far weaker hands? I realize my betting was far too timid but really I was fully prepared to throw this hand away but something told me he was trying to buy the pot with that huge raise. Bad thinking? And - should I have made a pot sized bet on the turn when I had two pair even though they were weak?

Any advice appreciated even if it's "you got served, son".

Either you are going to rep having a strong hand, or you're going to sit it out. Weak betting a weak hand is really pointless..

Also, don't let it get to your head too much that the resident Lagg is winning money.. wait for your chance. Don't get suckered into his game.

DONT BET LESS THAN HALF THE POT. DON'T MINBET, EVER. DONT EVER BET THIS TURN, YOU ARE NEVER AHEAD HERE. 5 people to an ace high flop...and you're betting with 3rd pair out of position. and if you "limp with low pairs trying to see a flop," then im assuming you are referring to hitting a set, so why continue with the hand when you dont set up or even get an overpair? overplaying pocket pairs on paired or overcarded boards is a huge leak. and his intention postflop was not to trap you, you trapped yourself by throwing out that weak ass river bet, anyone and everyone will raise that all day with or without a hand, thats why you shouldn't put yourself in the position to decide whether or not they have a hand by minbetting.

LOL a lot of people play like this at these stakes, they raise small or limp with big hands and raise weaker hands. When someone is raising and pushing a table around and then he limps in and plays it like he did I get very suspicious that they have a big hand. And his raise on the river was not too big to make it look like he was bying it. What hands do you put him on that you can beat on the river... there were really no draws out there. With the ace out there and 5 people seeing the flop you cant beat many hands, all you can beat on this board is a bluff. If he had something like pocket 4's or 5's I think he would just call on the river and take the showdown.
