88 - position, but an overcard

SB checks, CO checks, Staresy bets $4.5, SB raises to $9, CO folds, Staresy ...

pretty much a clear fold to me, but do I ...

just fold, this guy is blatantly trying to build a big pot OOP on such a dry board. I think he has a good king at worst like every time here.

I think a call is better then a reraise. If MP2 had folded and CO was a real loose opener from late position, there'd be much more merit to repopping him. Standard in this spot should most definately be to call IMO.

This looks fine to me. Having position is an arguement for calling, not raising. If you were OOP, all your future decisions would be tougher so you want to end the hand PF.

The check/min raise usually equals strength.

well, I just think that this isn't the worst flop in the world for 88 and when it's checked to me, it is almost inviting me to take a shot at it. There's also a good chance I am ahead here now.

If I check, how many cards come that either improve my actual hand or appear as a card that has improved my hand compared to those that crush it further?

this is a very good board to c-bet on. you played your hand good in this. the turn card will most likely make your hand suck even more so if you're going to win this pot you're going to have to do it by betting the flop and taking it down when others missed.

I don't think it's a very big leak, since checking most certainly has a positive expectation and you have to weigh that against what you think your expectation is here if you bet. If he's the type that will play a lot of broadways, play back at c-bets often, but will check down the hand if he can't beat a king, then I think checking would be the better play. Against an unknown I'm betting this flop more times then not though.
