Default AK is it worth it??

    Party Poker
    No Limit Holdem Tournament
    Blinds: t30/t60
    7 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: t5866
    UTG+1: t3915
    MP1: t586
    CO: t4652
    Button: t1560
    SB: t1681
    Stripclbjnk: t1740

    Pre-flop: (7 players) Stripclbjnk is BB with K A
UTG raises to t120, 2 folds, CO calls t120 (pot was t210), 2 folds, Stripclbjnk raises to t290, UTG calls t230 (pot was t500), CO folds.

    Flop: T 2 J (t730, 2 players)
Stripclbjnk bets t397, UTG calls t397 (pot was t1127).

I'm starting to think that AK isn't worth so much early in the tourney, but of course later its gold! In the above hand i should probably just call the min-raise and not raise it up, then hit it or forget it . I decided to c-bet trying to take it down right there, but that failed and leaves me with 1000. So id say it not worth it...How much are you willing to invest early (first 2-3 blind levels)preflop with AK ?

Early in the tourney, out of position, I flat call the minraise and go from there. Maybe I'm weak/tight, but if I don't hit, I mostly just check/fold.

in the BB... ill usually jes call dat raise and play it from there. Ill just throw the hand away easily early on.

Early on just forget nearly all hands. With a hand like AK, raise a bit, call an average size raise. If an A or K flops take the hand home. If its a blank flop, then just get out of the hand.

When the blinds start going up (4th/5th level+) then start playing the game. Raising the pots and taking them home. I think if you can get to the last 6 players with your starting stack, you should be in a good position to win the SnG.
