Default Taking a shot at the WSOP realistic?

    Yesterday I won this:

PokerStars Tournament #25003578, No Limit Hold'em
    Super Satellite
    Buy-In: 40 FPP
    1058 players
    Total Prize Pool: $423.20
    Target Tournament #25003427 Buy-In: $40.00
10 tickets to the target tournament

    Tournament started - 2006/05/22 - 14:30:00 (ET)

    Dear shysti,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
You qualified to play in Tournament #25003427 and are automatically registered for it.
See Tournament #25003427 Lobby for further details.

Now I already unregistered for the 4,000 FPP just to hold them until I decide if it's realistic I can take down the WSOP tourny to win my seat. My question is I need your opinion, with the Star's Million tourny going to be 500 +30 coming up, should I use my FPP, to try to win a seat in this?

And then unregister for the T$??? I am seriously considering doing this instead, and could possibly win muiltiple seats with this and cash out for the T$ and then with the remaining points try to qualify for the WSOP again.

    Tell me what you think?

Everyone would love a crack at the world series, wouldn't they?

But maybe break it down logically, and see where you're at. First of all, how many seats per competitor will be awarded in the tourny, and how do you rate your chances?

Secondly, assuming you win your seat, what's the expected field for this year's WSOP? What's the payout structure and how well do you rate your chances of placing ITM?

Then compare that with the likelihood of you placing ITM in multiple MTT's on Stars, and see hich feels best.

Although far less romantic a notion, I think the multiple MTT approach is by far the more likely to show you a profit.

Still, the world series is the world series.......

I won one of these about two months ago, but since Im not old enough to play in the WSOP I unregistered for the 4000 FPP. Even if I could play in it, I dont think my chances of winning that freeroll are very good at all simply because of the sheer number of people in them and the fact that only 2 are paid [last I checked]. I used the FPPs to get a couple books out of the store, I think that is a good alternative here.

These get around 400-500 entries and top 2 go to the WSOP. I like the using them to get to the 1mil idea. They have a 500 fpp buyin that usually attracts 300-400 that seats 4. Also, the rebuy fpp tourns.. and my favorite sng fpp satellites. It is a pricey 3600 this week for a 9 person, however.

Here's something I don't understand about the FPP satellites to the WSOP. They have one that costs 1000 FPP and only the winner goes to the WSOP. Then they have one that costs 4000 FPP and the top 2 go. Both of them get around 400 entries, so that being said, why would anyone want to play in the 4000 FPP tournament? Why not play in the 1000 FPP tournament four times and give yourself twice as good of a chance of qualifying for the same price? Am I missing something here?

I also think the satellites to the million are a better idea for you. The rebuy FPP tournaments are my favorite, but they're all great.

As far as whether it's a smart idea for you to try to qualify for the WSOP, your signature tells you all you need to know.

Thanks again guys. I am down to 1413 FFP. I been giving the 900 FPP million a try they have 5 min blinds which sucks because it becomes a crap shoot at the end.

Rizen helped me last night when I reached the final table but couldn't catch any cards, and the blinds started to dwindled my stack, I took 5th out of 36, close but no cigar

Rizen helped you how? Does he mentor you via cardrunner.com? Was he active in the hands? I'm curious, as I've been looking at cardrunner with some interest recently.

Although, if you check my "Micon System" thread out, you'll discover that, actually, I'm the better tournament player out of both him, greenplastic, and micon

Actually we chat every night on Vent, he just pulled my table up and I told him the hands I was getting and we were just discussing the table, etc etc.

I'll have to check out your thread.

This is actually the only real reason why I might actually break down and get dsl.

I feel I am missing out on a lot by not having the capability to use Vent.

Yay! Dude it's worth it trust me, before rizen railed for me a little bit I was watching him and saw him perform a move I've never even thought about using that way, and it worked, he was badly short stacked and it got him the chips he desperately needed.

He told me his thought process on why he did it, and also told me to beware of it. I am glad I got vent thanks to hartlin pushing me to and found all these great minds I can sap knowledge from.
