My thoughts:
- Reads: Most of the players are relatively tight after level one, but a number of them will call PF loosely early on with a wide range, some with speculative hands, others with complete rags. No real reads on BTN as he is new, but he sounds and acts like a bit of a donk, so I suspect overs and likely rags (i.e. J7o is entirely possible). After the flop bet, I put the button on a very loose range still, and is easily (in fact likely) doing this with air.
- I didn't want to lead this flop OOP with four left to act, because I don't think having first position here is completely horrible. I can check and re-evaluate after looking at the action. I'm fairly certain that someone will make a stab at the pot.
- I get the action that I wanted, but then realize that I'm looking at a fairly bloated pot wrt my stack size. I'm getting a feeling that the BTN would call a reraise with two overcards, and would likely open any turn card if checked to. I also don't think that BTN would lead with trips here, but then again, neither would the some of the others, so trips is certainly not out of the question.
- I don't want to shove, because I feel that I only get called by a better hand, and the pot is only $19.
- A check-raise would commit another $19 to the pot, which I believe could get called, even with air. Now that I think about it, a PSB was likely appropriate here though.
- Calling would leave me OOP for the turn, with three to act afterwards. Also, the turn card is almost always going to be an overcard, and BTN is likely to open if I check to him.
- I don't really like any of my options, and since I don't feel that I need this pot, and only have $2 invested, I pack up like a cheap suit, despite feeling as though I was likely folding the best hand.
- In hindsight, I'm thinking that leading the flop for $8 would have been the best bet, and then fold to a raise. If I get called, I'm slowing down on the turn. Either that or check-raising $19 enough to know if I'm up against trips or a bigger 6 .
- I know I played it pretty bad (Ok, horribly), but I'm not sure if I should have lead, check-raised, check-called in this spot. After going through this thought process, I'm thinking that leading is the correct answer, with check-raising being a distant second as it bloats the pot. I'm curious as to what others would do in this situation.
