Default Top Set vs. Multi-Way Pot w/ Drawing Board

Again at work and don't have the exact hand history...so just the important is here.

Everyone involved in the hand has approx. 75BB in their stack except for the BTN who had about 20. CO is lagg who has shown down some Kx suited hands from late position. BTN is lagg who has been very active and shown down hands such as 2nd pair/top kicker. BB is a total fish who has been playing any two cards. HERO is UTG

    $25 NL, Full Ring

    HERO (10c 10d) Calls $.25
    4 folds
    CO calls
    BTN calls
    SB folds
    BB check

    Pot Size - $1.10

    FLOP - (7s 10h 6h)

    BB check
    HERO bets $.50
    CO raises to $1.25
    BTN calls $1.25
    BB calls $1.25

    Pot - $5.35

    HERO - ???

Reraise, Cold Call, or Push? Against these 3 villains I had observed a tendency to play suited paint from late position. I wanted maximum value from this hand and I think it would be hard for anyone to have put me on a set of 10's at this point. My table image is tight and approx. 10 hands ago showed down unimproved pocket 10's after raising with them.

What line into this flop gives maximum value with the potential to be drawn out against at about 31%?

Draw heavy board and 3 players showing interest. I re-raise here making it $7 or $8 to go and call a push - the only hand that beats you is 89 which is unlikely but possible in a 25NL limpfest - and you still have 7 outs on the turn and 10 on the river to boat up. I push a non threat turn card on the turn. I don't like a smooth call on this flop raise to slow play the set, you probably have to check and fold an 8, 9 or a heart to any significant action.

Bet $1 on the flop. Half pot bets do nothing at this limit.

As played, I re-raise to 7 and put the rest in on the turn.

Raise it to $7 or $8, hopefully someone will come over the top. If you get calls, push the turn.

I raise PF. Try to weed out the trash. I usually raise TT from any position. If raised ahead of me, or reraised behind me, I play for set value. Otherwise, I play aggressively on the flop and proceed carefully if met with resistance.

As played, I would probably push. I either take down the pot right there, or curse the damn 89 that I let see that flop cheaply....or laugh when the board pairs!!

don't get cute here - 2 hearts and lots of straight draws...My personal rule of thumb is there isn't much reason to slowplay idiots...When you've got this many players with you, you wanna bet the flop harder - Don't give 2 hearts or a lone 8 a chance to gut you...the weak preflop call i don't like either - I dont' like to let in overcards with crappy kick's in for cheap - are you willing to dump the hand if you get tons of action on the turn card? When you limp along, players are going to assume that their weak hands (i see players at 25NL that bet A,10 here the same way) are good, and when the board is coordinated and you have 4 total players in, it's hard to know if your good or not - Fire that flop and knock some people out....

To close out the hand history and respond to some comments.

I pushed and the 3 villains folded. Not as big of a pot as i'd have liked, but decent. I was hoping that someone would come along for the ride with something like TPTK or a gut shot.

Interesting observation by limpin, the CO (who made the initial flop raise) was playing A 10 suited. He thought about his fold the longest. I have no idea what the other two played.

As for the initial limp, it's not my usual play either. I had been dealt pocket 10's three times in the last 15 or so hands, so i just varied the play a little. I was having some problem getting action on my raises with a tight table image. I limped, would have called a raise for set value, and folded to any overcards and aggression.

I considered the reraise option, knowing that if a flush hit and the board paired I probably would have stacked at least one...maybe two of the others in the pot.

Id make it about $5 or 6, 7-8 seems like a big raise, also raise preflop and lead that flop harder, but yea, as played raise to atleast $5. Depening on stack and pot sizes I would either 3bet or checkraise AI.

good way to vary the play - i didn't read that you had them a few times in the last 20 min's or so - Gotta mix it up...I have no problem getting action and it doesn't take much - If you aren't getting action on good hands, mix it up like raising a weird hand - Of course, people need to see you win with it, but one of the best examples I can give you is 1 time I raised a 10man table with 10,3d, in 1st position - I caught the flush and the guy with TPTK made it a big pot - After the table saw that, the VERY next hand I had pocket Jacks and flopped quads - I had 2 people going all in with Ace high cause they thought I was such an idiot...It doesn't take much to change your table image - Then again, if you aren't getting action at a 25NL table, might be easier to find a different one....

I can't believe someone agreed, even partially, with my comments...I thought we'd have the next 220+ posts about some stupid stuff where everyone is all over my case....haha
