Default (LC) No preflop raise players

I'm noticing an increase in the number of players who never or very seldom raise preflop - both loose and tight players. Why do people play like this? It's like playing tennis and, for example, never using a volley. Are these the same people who complain about their big pairs always getting cracked by BB specials?

What's the best way to play against these guys? One thing, it does make it bloody hard to put them on a hand preflop!

They want to see the flop before doing anything.

In many cases I will increase the range of hands that I will raise with against these types to prevent them from playing the game they want to. If they fold good, if they call I can then tighten up their range and if they come over the top I can lay it down.

In other words, put the pressure back on them pre-flop.

probably take a few more marginal hands and look to hit the flop hard, but bear in mind you are looking for nut-crackers.

These people are a joy to play against, surely? they let you in cheap and only come to life when it's too late

...except when you're shortstacked, looking for a place to push and like 2 of them have limped in in front...

im with you on that one taipan... i hate it when i see a bunch of real passive players pre late in SnGs if im short... but ive taken to just pushing all in when there are a reasonable number of limpers with anything decent - suited connectors, AT, A9etc

ive found that if you do this, youll be able to pick up the pot a significant portion of the time and when you do get called, hopefully youll at least have live cards.
