    Default Tournament success

    Guys,

I'm quite new to Poker (I knew how to play poker before, but I'm actively playing online for 1 month).

I came in 10th, 11th and 25th on three free tourneys. However, I think I've busted out in the first hour in around 20 others.
I would like to ask you if those that are successfull in tourneys always manage to succeed (i.e. top 10) in a tourney or sometimes they also bust out in the beginning?

    Thanks!

MTTs are high variance. No one can FT everytime.

I played 3 - 180 man $4.40 on PS last week. I was done in 1 hour in 2 of them because I got zero hands. Then in the 3rd I was doing good with 20 people left before donk crippling my stack.

Review the hands you busted. Did you make a good decision? Or are you putting all your chips in the middle pre-flop with AK or TT? Freerolls are even worse because everyone gambles at the beginning.

If you are constantly going out in the beginning you are probably gambling too much. If you are getting knocked out early it should be bad beats.

At the $4 I typically have 2000 (starting with 1500) after an hour and a half. The average stack is 5k. People are knocking each other out left and right, patience is key (read the stickies).

    Thanks for the answer mate!

After seeing my hands, I think I might be gambling too in the beginning. I think I have to work on the patience thing also ...

    Cheers!
