Default resteal, all in on A high flop ($22, 2 tables)

I reraised as a resteal, was disappointed when he called. The ace flopped though, so I pushed ... Is this a bad play? My thinking was that he can't call the push unless he has an ace, and so more often than not (since I was in the belief that he was stealing) I will win the pot?

why not just shove over preflop as a resteal, u dont leave urself much room on the flop anyways with ur play.

u bloat the pot to 1k and have 750 behind.
it makes ur bluff ont he flop much stronger but u give urself no real room if things turn ugly

i just dont like hte preflop play.
I would generally just fold here, I dont bother restealing much.

as far as doing the resteal in the first place:

i would have to really be sure they could have a really wide range here, since the bb of 50 doesnt really have much value to your stack.

because the reraise to 500 is pretty much 2/3 of his chips, i doubt they are going to give away their hand if they dont think the flop is perfect. i think the opponents orginal raise is so substantial it would be hard to actually get a fold...people that short are ususally willing to gamble or go broke

imo its not worth defending the 50 chips of your bb to risk a good chunk of your stack with KJ

dont be mad that he called because your reraise was so tiny

I think you need to either raise less or more preflop. Less if you are planning on pushing most flops whether you miss or not, to give you better fold equity on the flop. More if you think your chances are better to take it right there. And if you are going to call a preflop push, push first to get the most fold equity.
