One helluva slow play
Just finished a 5-man 33 at paradise. Key hand, blinds at 15/30, no one out yet.
UTG (1000)
SuperSlowPlaya(1750)
AllinFreak(500)
SB(750)
Hero(1000)
UTG folds
SuperSlowPlaya calls 30
AllinFreak calls 30
SB folds
Hero (AcTc) raises 180 to 210
SuperSlowPlaya calls 210
AllinFreak raises all-in for 500
Hero raises all-in for 1000
SuperSlowPlaya calls
Pot: 2500
SuperSlowPlaya shows AA
AllinFreak shows Q9o
Result: hero flops the flush draw, and 2 more clubs fall for the nut flush.
Hero wins 2500 and goes on to take second after UTG knocks out the other 2 a couple orbits later.
I was thinking, very patient, brilliant slow play. AllinFreak had gone all in preflop 4 of the last 5 hands, and I had pulled the BB big raise after limpers a couple times already. So chances were good that either AllinFreak would go all-in, and if not, that I would raise. Then, after I raised, he smooth-called, expecting an allin from AllinFreak. I, of course, have to iso-raise, and he gets to play a huge pot with AA 3-way with a side pot. I was impressed. I didn't notice this guy slowplay during the tournament other than this. Definitely knew when to do it.
