Default When a Steal attempt goes horribly wrong...

I know this move sucked... But since I am a fan of irony, I wanted to share...

    Karma is real.

The push was really donk-a-riffic, wasn't it?
I figured I'd push him off a middle pair... and I was drawing for a straight... He might fold KJ too...
    ...and I'm an IDIOT.
It's like a GOOD BEAT story.
Maybe we should tell more of these

i think it would have been a decent play except you werent paying attention to how thehand played out...once he calls your raise, you immediately shouldfeel you are most likely done with the hand unless a miracle flop comes, but at the flop of three high cards, you know a hand he would call a pre flop raise with prob hit that board, why stab at it...conserve your chips and double trhough someone in a better spot

[disclaimer: I have no earthly right to defend this move...]
Basic problem with bluffing... Occasionally, the opponent has EXACTLY the hand you are trying to rep.
So the question is, is there a scenario where Opp folds PP to a push on this flop?
(I mistakenly thought calling that raise required PP of some kind, really didn't think QJ was in the range...)

Would anyone like to comment on the effect of table position on this scenario? In some ways, I feel like I forced myself into this move by not being in position and having a personal (leak?) problem with checking as first action. Would checking have saved me from this guy? (Maybe not with My donkey hat on...)

You have wonderful, fantastic, beautiful big balls to rep a royal flush dude

Actually, I was kinda hoping he thought I had QJoff...(made straight) or even AA (trips)
The royal didn't enter the equation (naturally) until I SAW it. But then it made complete and perfect sense.
Horribly painful, mind crushing, I am a total jerk sort of sense...

Oh the sweet pain of learning...

He's in the SB, so your raise is discounted. As it is, he's planning on completing preflop, so paying two more BB to see the flop with QJ sooted is a reasonable call, unless he's a complete nit. If you're going to bluff, you need to bluff harder preflop to fold the blinds.

As far as your position goes, I can see making this play from the BN preflop with any two, but from MP1 I'd at least want some sooted junk in my hands in case I had to play postflop.

    pre flop is iffy.

I like the move on the flop. Just about the only hands that check and then call are the FD and made straight, or both ().

if any of you all check call here with A9, you really suck. KJ is only a little better on that board. READ it for god's sake, you can't slow play that flop without a monster.
