i think user folded an ace, prob aj (ak reriases preflop).

such a tough call with top trips good kicker. ugly, ugly board.

yeah. more i think bout it, more i'm more than 50% sure he s on aj here.

folds an ace, on this board, vrs halling?

Seems like he had a more speculative hand thinking of making a heroic call.

Deep money, I think going broke with Ax here is probably a mistake even against H@LL. Although it's hard to say too much about a single heads-up hand in isolation.

AJ I think is too good to lay down. I think he had A9 at best. Really, heads up he should be re-raising an Ace preflop, no?

Actually, PoorUsers play here is really awful unless he, too has a busted draw.

Maybe he was faking a big laydown. But I can't fathom what he has that he calls the flop re-raise, calls the turn, folds the blank river otherwise.

i dunno, i think reraising a lot of hands would be a good idea, but not every time you get an ace.

I think he has a better chance of having a hand like KQ than A9 as this hand plays out.

It really begs the question if its wise to play halling 300 bb deep if you're not willing to run with a hand like A9 in this spot.

had never seen tilt-play from Holl be4. that's pretty sick.

wonder wtf he pushed with preflop
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?
  22. #22
Oh come on - who gets tilted on a 5 outer for a measly 8 grand?
He probably pushed PF with JJ.

I think he has a better chance of having a hand like KQ than A9 as this hand plays out.

It really begs the question if its wise to play halling 300 bb deep if you're not willing to run with a hand like A9 in this spot.
Certainly it's nuts to fold A9 here... I did say "at best" because with A9-A2 you could convince yourself (for 20K) that you were outkicked.

Do you think he sweats folding the river with KQ?

for some reason it didn't occur to me that Holl might have had ak when he pushed post-badbeat.

    that would suck for him.

Is it really that unthinkable to fold AK here? It's relatively standard at 6M/FR..

I think people underestimate the hand quality you need to felt at 300bb deep, even heads up against a very agressive player like H@L.

You basically need the pure nuts to call.

I'm glad you guys are saying this because when I was reading the first few posts in this thread I was thinking, "Wow, there's absolutely no way I'd call here with just AJ." You can't just say, he's very aggressive and I have a pretty good hand, so I'm calling him down. That's just playing your cards, not even making any attempt to put H@LL on a hand. People who think like that are the reason H@LL is so rich. Try to put him on a range, and if you're ahead of it, call, otherwise fold. I would imagine that his range crushes AJ here.

This post from 2+2 is about a 50-100 hand against Mahatma and it's about how to react to a super-aggressive player. I think it's one of the most helpful things I've ever read about poker.

How can you say that he should be raising with an Ace preflop. I usually play $25NL and $11 SnG, but surely you have to mix up your play a lot. You can't always raise with a big hand or your opponents will read you like a book. You need to mix up your play. Especially at 1 on 1. And at highstakes where you play the same people again and again.
