Default Level 5, short stack, slow played the straight. Dummy??

Summary: Level 5, I am short stacked, about 1/2 of the 3 leaders. I am BB, get JQ off, see the free flop. Flopped the straight. Should I have went all in?? Should I have pushed harder? Am I a dummy for slow-playing it??

Also once the 7 turned, I hoped he had a 6 or a J, which makes my Q high straight even sweeter. Instead, I go home broke.

    Please let me know.
    Thanks for your help,
    Fat Johnny

Flop: I don't hate the slowplay call with the nut straight, but I would like it a lot more without the two diamonds on the flop. The $5.50 fish LOVE their sooooooted cards so you don't want to let them draw to the flush cheaply. I might consider just pushing over here, you'll get called by crap like K8/K9 surprisingly often.

Turn: I would bet 5-600 and call any push. As above, with the flush draw out there you can't let them see a free river. How bummed would you be if another hit the river and he pushed?

River: As you played it, I don't think I'm getting away from the hand. You have the nut straight, ther's no flush possibilities and whilst the board is paired you would see trip 8s much more often than you see a full house. I would just raise all-in rather than 80% of your stack, you're not getting away from this so just get it all-in.

reraise on the river looks like trips to me , and I have to call. Both blinds flopped a huge hand, someone is destined to win a huge pot. I didnt hate the call on the flop, but with two diamonds, I think I have to raise it, although in this case- if you push it on the flop he calls anyway with tp, and you are way ahead, except of course the river then saves him... I lean toward getting more in on the flop in general here, though you were bound to lose a alot here any way you played it. Hes calling any raise with that hand, with that flop.

Please don't slowplay a straight. There's no reason to do it and you aren't likely to improve, while many hands still have redraws to beat you.

Reraise something on the flop. The turn has to be a terrifying card; let him know that it doesn't scare you.

Do not like the check on the turn. Bet 2/3 pot and put your opponent to the test. There's a good chance you get called anyways and lose the pot, but it would have put your opponent to the test (esp with 4 to the straight on the board).

Also, call the river. The board paired and there are 4 cards to a straight on the board. If you reraise and villian calls/reraises he has a straight or better (board is paired). If you call and win the villian wasn't going to call your reraise anyways (pair, busted flush draw, 2 pair).

You wanted to get him all-in one way or another, so slowplaying is fine I think when short in a tourney. However, you need to be asking him for more cash, which means betting the turn.
