Default okay push while i still have fold eq?

2nd or 3rd hand at new table, so no reads. very shortstacked (M=5.5). SB minraises, so i still have some fold equity with a push right?

im feeling like i have to defend my blind here because of the minraise, regardless of my cards

I don't like it.. it really looks like he wants a call with just the minraise, and I think you can find better spots to chip up.

You don't really have much fold equity here. You push and you make it 2500 for him to call a 4500+ pot. He's getting nearly 2-1 on the call there and should make it with just about any hand he's raising from EP. Plus if he calls and loses, while it hurts him, it doesn't completely kill him.

Wait 'til you can be first in if you're trying to use fold equity as your weapon with less than a 10xBB stack.

What??? How are you considering this??
You don't have much fold equity in a raised pot with less than half his stack behind you. A preflop reraise is too risky especially with any two cards (which are probably live, but come on, you can do better than that). Take another orbit and try to find cards to double up with, or like JeffreyGB said, be the first in if you actually want to have any fold equity.

    but,

I feel that the minraise is pretty standard, given the blind level and their relative stack sizes.

Is it? I haven't played many MTTs recently, I guess it's alright, I don't think I'd minraise as a steal though..

Yeah, because it is > 1/8th of hero's stack at this point, and hero is almost in push or fold mode - so if hero pushes over the top, and if you were completely bluffing with 27o, you let it go, but at the same time, adding any more to this bet doesn't give a corresponding increase in fold equity.

stop-n-go if you must play. His m/r gives you 3:1 and you have odds vs. anything by calling.

There may be some flops that yoiu should check/fold... (a-high, monotone not your suit, 3 high cards), but if the flop comes ragged, he has to fold anything worse than top pair or a good draw.

technically you can't stop and go a flop when you are 2nd to act.

My bad, I thought villain raised from BU. boy, that makes this hand even harder. I guess just let it go.
