Default A question about Inflection Points

Hi FTR's. Just wanted to post real quick because I've been having the most problems as of late in this zone or stage in a SNG.

    Here's a repeating scenerio:

My M is 10. I pick up AKo UTG. My stack is $1220 and the blinds are 40/80. You make to $220. A little less than 3x the BB. Everyone folds to the BB who calls. The pt is now $480. Flop comes TT2 two diamonds which totally missed your hand.
A standard continuation bet would be in the neighborhood of $250. . .. .

Now, this is the problem for me. The texture of the board isn't great for me but it probably didn't help my opponent less he called with a pair in his hand. Now after make the bet, he raises and I have to fold.

You go from orange zone to damn near red zone (M=6.25) in one hand/play. Is it better to check with position (or even check/fold if you're OOP) in this situations to preserve the equity of your stack?

Now, you could try to decide what type of players the BB is but more often than not, if the player is not a regular face, I can't tell his style because I'm multi-tabling. I don't have a real clue what his calling range is or if think AT is worthy of a call from an UTG raisor.

Ok sorry about the rant. Any feedback appreciated.

rainbow flop I often check here.

two suited I usually bet. i might check for a chance to pick up a back door draw.

I don't like the 250, though. If you're going to bet, I would put in 375 and go back for the rest if he pushes over. If he smooth calls and then pushes the turn, you could fold.

If he pushes over on the flop, it's a lower PP or the FD much more often. Good players will lead with a T, bad players will check/call with one.
