    Default A Pro's Poker Blog

I don't know how many other poker pro's have their own blog but this makes pretty interesting reading. Simon Trumper has been at the WSOP for the past few weeks and just busted out of the main event on day 1.

"The levels were 2 hours long and so I spent the first level learning my table .It was clear there were 4 weak players on the table , with blinds of 25 50 they were raising preflop anything from 300 to 500"

this is a quote from his blog - Is this a tall-tale sign of a weak player? I tend to overbet, proflop, with most of my big hands...Maybe I am just remembering everytime they get cracked, and I really should just do a standard raise with them....Im trying to be less weak, but feeling like i have to "get people out" is a big problem for me - I always feel like im either trying to get everyone out, or slow play something....does anyone else do this overbetting thing?

LOL.... I remember during last year's WSOP, a guy at Sam Farha's table opened for 1,000 at the 25/50 level with AA. Farha knew he had a big hand and called with 33. Well Farha flops a set and the guy of course can't get away from his aces.

If you overbet them you'll win less than you might have if you chase everybody out and, if you get called and they do get cracked, you're going to lose more than you needed to.

In HOH, Dan Harrington says something about good poker players being defined by the chips they don't lose rather than the chips they win.
