Default How do YOU use SNG Power Tools ?

This has been posted on the Sit n Go Power tools forum but since I havent got any reply I might aswell try here - you seem like such a friendly bunch

    Hey

Just got the program and finding it very interesting. However im having problems putting my opponents of ranges of hands. When Im actually in the situation i might have a good guess but when analysing the tourney afterwards ive forgotten alot of how the different players styles were. So how do you guys deal with it? Its a big problem when multitabling especially.

Secondly im about to read the tutorial regarding HU play. Ive seen you mention several times on these forums that you would come up with a chart for pokerstars - am i missing it or what?

    Regards
    David

There's no easy answer to putting someone on a calling range, you pretty have to use your own intuition based on a few things:

    1. How tight the blinds and those left to act are.
    2. What buyin you're playing at. A lower buy-in = a larger range.
    3. How much you've been pushing prior to this hand. If you're constantly pushing from the BTN or SB, you're going to start getting called by a MUCH wider range. I've had people call off 8x BBs with a healthy stack and flip over J5.

The HU chart you mentioned is likely the Nash Equilibrium charts. They should be in the HU tutorial.

Thanks for answering but i think youve misunderstood me. My problem is to remember the range of hands AFTER the tourney when im playing around with SNGPT. When im actually playing the tourney and have to take the decision I think i have a decent shot at putting them on a hand range. But after the tourney has finished its hard to remember.

Concerning the HU chart what I meant was that in the HU tutorial the NE charts is for party poker where theres a total of 10.000 chips. on Pokerstars theres 13500 chips so I guess i cant use that chart to much?

I use Pokertracker and PokerAce HUD when playing so once the tourney is over, I look back at the players from my PT stats and judge their pushing/calling ranges that way.

Re the HU charts, for me HU is so reads-based that I think it's dangerous to use a chart. IMO the main thing is to keep the aggression up.

    Ahh ofcourse....
If you do that then is must be possible to make some sort of chart of when to push and when to fold according to the opponent stats in PT.

Btw I checked your stats and see that you primary play 6$ TURBO sngs.
Ive never played a TURBO in my life because it must be more of a crapshoot. Maybe if your extremely aggresive i can see a point in playing TURBO, but thats doesnt seem to be the case with you.
Did you use to play normal and then switched to TURBOs? If yes, then why and didnt it decrease your ROI%?

If your interested im up for exchanging mail adresses and discuss poker-theory, specific hands and so on through that.
I think we are very similar players. We started around the same time, and it seems our playing-styles are close to eachother. Check out my stats a sharkscope and let me know what you think. I think it would be great.

Turbos are not crapshoots. They just get to the all-in or fold stage quicker than normal SNGs and if you are good at that they can be very profitable. Plus at PS the rake is lower than the normal tourneys (eg. for $1 in rake you can play a $10 normal but a $15 turbo).

I started playing turbos because I wanted to develop my push/fold game and I think it helped. Plus after having a nice ROI at the $5.50s I ended up breaking even over about 70 $10s (yes I know small sample size) so I thought I'd try something different. Over about 210 $6.50 turbos I've got an ROI of about 20% and am trying to move up to the $16s!

Sure, I'll send you a PM. Wow, you have some nice results on Sharkscope, well done!
