You might want to take one off on the turn. Villian min raises the flop, you reraise and than villian flat calls. This looks like the type of action a flopped nut straight might try.

Check behind. A couple of benefits to this. You might have the best hand here and villian might have c/r you off of it. Although I would give villian some credit here based on his stack. If you are behind you get a card to catch up in a way that might deceive villian. Say an 8h comes off and villain thinks you have the second nut flush theres a good chance you will double up here.

well these hands today cost me about 6 or 7 buy-ins today. i'm losing my mind. i have never had a good upswing. i don't remember (and i literally mean i can't remember) the last time i stacked somebody with a set. i have to be doing something wrong. i post hands, and get replies that say what i am doing is fine for the most part. i have no idea what to do. it's not variance...i never go on an upswing. it is always little up little down, and now this is my worst downswing in over a year and a half of playing. sorry if i sound like a noob but i don't think i know how to play poker anymore. i'm not sure what to do from here...

For sanity you can stop... or:
Play SnG's... They are a great way IMO to build up your bank roll and confidence. They are much more relaxing since your loss is limited to the buy in.

Try another game. Maybe NLHE isn't your forte. Branch out into the other variations where one critical mistep doesn't cost you your whole stack (L or PL). You might find you are more skilled playing something else like Stud/8 and it might make something click that improves your NLHE.

Buy a program to play against. Just seeing a few hundred flops an hour is a valuable learning tool. Play full ring with cheat mode and you get an idea of how cards become distributed around the table and how they fit in with certain flops.

Also be super critical of some of the responses you get. There are a number of one liners and abbreviations so if you get a repsonse like gf or fine or yeah, scour through the hand because for stronger players some things are much more obvious and you might get a false sense of security that what you did is correct without knowing why, than trying the same line against a different opponent with the same flop and getting stacked when you overlooked a slight nuance.

Little more detail:

Hand 1 -
You might not limp-call raises with 79s UTG+1. But if the table was overlimpy or seeing a lot of players in raised pots, then I don't mind it - you pay to luckbox your straight, trip sevens, etc.
Once the flop comes, you may easily be smooth-called by an overpair or missed overs here. The turn bet may be a little too steep, as you really don't want to run the guy off. But, as played I call his turn push and pay him off if he played TT oddly.

So the only questionable thing about this hand is your presence in it, and that may be justifiable depending on table conditions.

Hand 2: On second look, I don't see a big reason to reraise here - the board is dry and drawless, and you might have second best kicker, but might pick up a draw or hit your pair on the turn. However, it's a clear fold to his 3-bet of the flop, so nothing wrong with that.

Hand 3 - Again, there is a possibility that you could call his raise here and 'might' be able to get away from this later if he flopped the straight or overset...but I doubt it, and from his aggression it doesn't look like it would save you much, so I don't see a big problem with getting it all in now and catching up.

Hand 4
This one is a bit tough...it's sooo tempting to bet that turn vs. most minraising doofuses at $10 NL. I don't think that either betting or checking behind is in error, so either is fine...you had to fold to the push.

Hand 5
he could have limped Aces or something silly like that...I don't hate going for it with the short buy...if he outflopped you here, so be it. This one could go either way, though, in terms of push/fold.

Hand 6
I think you take your free card on the turn and see if you fill up - otherwise your part in the hand is over, and don't be upset by it - monkeys chase their flushes without pot or implied odds, as long as you don't pay

Depends on how you want to play it... Every once in a while I'll do a limp/call from EP with suited connectors / suited 1-gappers, but, and a big BUT, I'm playing them solely for straight/flush possibilities and not for pairing. In situations like this is one, I'd treat it exactly like A9 because I tend to play 2 pair like TPSK (top pair super kicker), which saves you against things like draw heavy boards or hidden sets. Here on the turn I would have slowed down and either checked or thrown out a cheaper blocking bet (we're up to like $4.50 or so here) and folded to a push. Even with the fold since one guy is AI you'll see a showdown and get info on what hands Built4This22 will play and go to the mat with. Info = goob.

Nothing wrong with limp/calling from EP with scs/sgs at passive tables. Aggressive tables not so much.
