    Default Giving away free money

This was a 27 player 5+.50 on Stars. As long as I didn't lose an all-in, I was a lock to win $11 very soon because CO had been sitting out for the past hour and was about to be blinded out.

    The payout structure was:

    1) 50
    2) 36
    3) 24
    4) 14
    5) 11

I'm pretty sure I did the right thing calling UTG's all-in because the pot odds were so great and I felt confident I was the favorite.

So what should I have done?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB (t10752)
    Hero (t8280)
    UTG (t12163)
    MP (t5175)
    CO (t520)
    Button (t3610)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8, 8.
UTG calls t800, 3 folds, SB completes, Hero raises to t2400, UTG raises to t12163, SB folds, Hero calls t5830 (All-In).

Sorry to be harsh, but this was bad play IMO. I wouldn't raise preflop, check the BB and only get involved if you hit a set. Once you raised, fold to the push. You are not desperate and as you say shorty will be out very soon. Don't f*ck with the big stack, PARTICULARLY on the bubble.

Remember that chip EV diverges most from $ EV on the bubble, this is a great example of a call that can be justified from a chip perspective but not a $ perspective.

as CO was supposed to be blinded out your odds of finishing itm were 5:1, calling the AI gives u slightly more than 2.8:1 pot odds (didn´t see any antes). limping from utg is often a slowplaying premium just waiting for a steal attempt in lp, so i would just let this go.

i really dont want to raise here - spec on the bubble, im just waiting for CO to blind out, and then start really playing. id really be playing 88 for set value, but even if i flopped a set, and big stack pushed at me, id considering folding if the board was coordinated enough.

I will probably check the BB and take a stab at the pot if it is all low cards (or if I hit my set).

As played I fold to a reraise, he is serious about the hand and your are either a dog or flipping, given the stack sizes I dont want to flip for my tournament life here

As previously stated, you have to fold to aggression here. The CO is going to bust out which gives you a lock for money. It wouldn't be that bad of a play if UTG didn't have you covered and you would still be in the tourney if you lost. SNGs are different in the fact that only a few spots get paid unlike MTTs there are many and the only true money is at the final table. This makes takings risks more profitable in MTTs because you are trying to get to the FT and 1st.
