It's always been said that normal single tables have higher ROI but lower $/hour and turbos are the opposite. Don't know how MTTs compare but I would imagine higher variance.

i think you can make a killing at 2-3 table sng's compared to one table. average low limit players dont make the adjustment from full table, to shorthanded, to full table, and then to shorthanded again.

I've started to believe 2 tables are the way to go too.

Turbos have an higher variance as do MTTs, in MTTs the payout when you get to the first few places compensates for it, and in turbo the lesser amount of time compensates for variance.
I believe all 3 forms could be profitable, but each require a different skillset

I've been hearing this more and more these days. Anyone else have the same opinion on this?

Nobody's mentioned the 6 max on Party.

Not sure if any of the other sites have them but I've been playing them alot. They play faster than full tables but with less variance than TURBOs that always end up with a crap shoot far too soon ( IMHO ).

The 22 and under are very soft.
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

    Somebody's making a penny!!

i like the turbos. i started playing these out of necessity as i would only have an hour or a little less at a time when i would play, so these met the timeline. i 4 table the $15+1's on stars, and have been doing quite well. im currently making the transition to the $25+2's, and have started off 2 tableing to start off.

jdubs, what is the benefit of just 2 tables? or are you just saying this is better than 1?

one good thing i like about the turbo's that makes up for the variance a bit is the lower rake/fee. regulars are $10+1 and $20+2 wheras the turbos are $15+1 and $25+2.

and everyone bashes the turbos as being a crapshoot. i agree that the bad players at these levels treat them as one, but if you play a controlled game and let 3-4 people get knocked out early, you can play solid and not have to do anything out of the ordinary.

another thing i find that suits my playing style in the turbos is that aggression is rewarded even more than normal. i am pretty aggressive (PO has me at 21/11/3.5 over 25,000 hands or so), and i am able to push the table around with any decent chip advantage.

There was a 2+2 thread. About multi-table turbos.

The consensus was that the turbo format and the decreasing pay scale forces donks to play close to ideal push-bot strategy, there-by negating part of the edge.

I think at the 2-table you need to shift towards MTT strategy and play for first. In a 1-table 60% of the prize pool is distributed once ITM. For a 2-table it's only 40% and I think a 5-table is ~20%.

sorry jdubs, i mistook your coment as 2 tables at a time instead of 2 table SnG's.

no worries- I was just saying the 2 table SnGs may be more profitable, higher payouts and its not that much harder to get past the bubble than in a single table.

I have found the 3-table turbo's @ Poker Room the most profitable for me.

If you adhere to the "tight is right" strategy for early tournament play - not limping with crap & only playing premium hands, then you often find yourself down to a 2-tables environment quite quickly without being involved in many pots, and with plenty of chips left to progress into the money.

When i first started playing these, I soon realised that my game in the middle stage of the tournaments was a little too similar to the early stage. When i opened up more & played a wider range of hands mid-tournament, my success - ROI & ITM greatly improved.

    I can 2-table these and complete 4 tournaments/hour.

I love love LOVE two table SnGs. Playing a one table SnG at $22 or $33 level usually takes around 1-1.5 hours. Playing a two table SnG at the same level usually takes around 1.5-2 hours. So you play for around half an hour longer but for much more money which is more worth my time. I don't find it entirely more difficult to get through 9 more players. Obviously the variance is a little higher and it can be more frustrating, but it's not more difficult. Also doesn't feel as bad when I place second in a two table SnG compared to a one table SnG because the money is so shitty in a one table for 2nd place whereas it's decent at a two table.
