Default Satellited into 250k guar.... it's today!!!!

Any tips? I'm playing it with my twin brother, we're going to each take half the table and use pen and paper and write down reads. I've never played a high stakes MTT so any general tips on it would be appreciated!
    Now on 3...... WIN!!!

he's saying that his brother is going to sit with him. Not that he and his brother are both entered and are going to collude.

Would you call two people playing the same accoutn collusion?

Yes, and so does every poker-room I've ever played at. :P

Good luck. I won a satellite to the million on Stars but unregistered for it and just used the tourney $ elsewhere.

Jdubs, if you must ask yourself this question, "What is the basic definition of collusion in poker?"

Your answer would be something to the tune of "When two or more players plot/play/collaborate secretively against another."

I'd argue that this is not collusion. To quote PokerStars: "Collusion is a form of cheating in which two or more players signal their holdings or otherwise form a cheating partnership to the detriment of the other players at the same table."

Having someone else sit with you while you play is not collusion.

In all reality any form of team-work in poker is collusion. If you are questioning whether something you are doing is wrong, be safe and contact the respective poker-room for further info. Not often do you hear someone bragging: "Hey, my brother and I won that tournament!"

BTW - My brother and I taking reads on assigned people at a table, therefore 2 people playing on the same account, is a cheating partnership. There is no way to make it sound sweeter... Colluding is colluding

How many of you have had someone else sweat you while you play and give you suggestions? Would you consider that collusion?

How many of you have been in a tournament or ring game and been in IRC, ventrillo, AIM, etc. and told others watching your cards and have people make comments? Would you consider that collusion?

If someone other than you has any input on your hand, then yes, collusion. lol

Imagine chess -- You and I for 50k. You make a move, puts me at a decision, I go onto my chat program, ask a room full of friends, who may happen to be chess gods, what I should do in this situation. Would you be happy with that? No, you wouldnt. Instead of just playing me, you are playing me, and 10 friends, all against you.

As incredibly awesome I have been in this debate, I recant.

    Hello Justin,

    Thank you for your Email.

This is not collusion, but merely a far-fetched attempt at doing what many
commonly used poker programs which display the same information. These
tools, such as PokerOffice and PokerTracker, also display their actions in
    readable format.

Collusion would be two players actively creating an advantage in the same
tournament, and using this advantage against the other players.

    Regards,

I like how the PokerStars support staff not only said it was okay, but [maybe inadvertantly] offered suggestions (specific software packages) on possibly better ways to gain an 'unfair' advantage...

BTW, I always assumed it is only considered collusion if someone that is dealt in shares information with someone else that was dealt in. If only one party has a hand, I didn't think it counts as collusion. But that's just my understanding of the semantics...an ethical debate might go further.

This isn't much different then using a HUD playing vs people who don't have one.

I know HUDs are alowded and all but where do you draw the line? I wouldn't be too woried about this.

How is it unfair advantage if everyone and their mother can buy poker tracker and office and use it accordingly?

It's not collusion. For it to be collusion it would involve both players having SEPARATE hole cards and playing as ostensibly separate entrants, but using the info they have - basically, being able to see 4 cards instead of 2 and being able to plan moves accordingly - to gain an advantage over the other players.

Some people seem to think that two players = a player squared, a player who's exponentially better than any one normal player. This is nonsense.

The way I would look at it is to assume that whichever brother has the most skill is effectively playing the tourney, as they will be the one to make the best plays (indeed, their skill level may be effectively reduced if the other brother provides sub-optimal input which is acted upon). So the brother tag team is only as good as the better brother. QED.

It's not really. That's why I put 'unfair' in quotes.
