Where am I going wrong?

I've been playing poker for about a year or so and just started getting somewhat serious in the last couple months. I've been reading here, taking advice, and practicing. I got Poker Office from Nobel poker as a bonus, and have tracked 850+ hands so far, and I'm losing! What should I be looking for to help me get better? Thanks for any help and advise anyone can offer! I can list any specific stats if needed.

I think you're too loose pre-flop and too passive post-flop.

Sorry, I couldn't resist It's impossible to know what you're doing wrong from your post. Post a few of your biggest winning or losing hands (two or three per post at the most, using the FTR hand converter, and not including results) and I'm sure you'll get some great feedback. Also, 850 hands is a miniscule sample size. Some of the best players here have had losing streaks of thousands of hands. I'm not saying you should wait to plug your leaks, just that poker requires a long-term mindset. Good luck and welcome to FTR.

There are some questions that need to be answered before you know what the "losing" means. 1000 hands is a very small sample size. It's hard to say much based on that.
If you are playing $10NL and are down $50 that doesn't necessarily mean you're playing bad; any more than being up means you're necessarily good.

The most important stats to look at from the start are going to be VP$IP, your PFR% and your W$SD.
Basically: are you playing too many hands or not enough? Are you playing too passively pre-flop or too agressively? And are you taking bad hands too far or junking too many good hands when opponents get aggressive?

Find out what these stats mean and apply them to your game (what is your game?).

I play mostly.25 and .50 NL. My VP$IP is 18.8%, my PFR% is 5.3% and I'm down $65. I'll try to post some of my winning and losing hands like you suggested. Just a quick look at it I've lost more money with KJ and QQ than anything else. I'll try to post some of those hands. Thanks again!

I think this is Trainer_jyms way of introducing you to Bankroll Management. You should have roughly between 18-20 max buyins to play at a specific limit.

These stakes are a little high for someone thats just starting out.

I don't know what your bankroll is, allabout, but if it's not around $1000, you are playing outside your limits.

The maximum buyin is $25 for the $.25, and I started with a $500 bankroll. Yes I read the articles on bankroll management and many of the other articles as well. And they are very helpful. I guess my question is what should I be looking for in Poker Office to be sure I'm playing well, because I don't want $65 to turn in to $500. I'll stick to $25 buy in NL and definitely ask for more help when I have more hands under my belt.

Just keep folding the bad ones and raise the good ones, sooner or later someone WILL bite and your in for a good pot
