Default Basic QQ preflop question early in the tourney ($6.50)

No real reads. UTG is LAgg so no credit for an UTG minraise. This is the first hand CO has played. SB seems loose passive. Is raising to 500 a better line here?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    CO (t1500)
    Button (t1360)
    SB (t1480)
    Hero (t1410)
    UTG (t1825)
    UTG+1 (t1440)
    MP1 (t1410)
    MP2 (t3075)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, Q.
UTG raises to t60, 3 folds, CO raises to t120, 1 fold, SB calls t105, Hero raises to t1440

i think its perfect!! with so much action i doubt your losing value by not raising to 500. id say your almost guarantedd a call.

I'm fine with giving no credit to UTG, but if this is the first hand that CO has played and he's min-raising, I think we have to give him credit for something. Part of me likes a 500 here and part of me would rather a smooth call, looking for a non-A flop. Even if we get that though, I'm not necessarily happy if CO becomes active...

For that reason I'm likely making it 500 here and letting it go if CO plays back.

given the stakes i stand by my post. jefferys posts does of course make sense but at another level i feel.

also just today i reread a QQ hand in HOH chap 4 that may be close to this hand. harrington went into some detail on it. just remember there was some extra pf action tho maybe it doesnt fit i cant exactly remember.

I'm curious...what range of hands do you think a tight player at these stakes is 4-betting preflop after you make it 500?

who says he is that tight?? just coz he has started playing now doesnt mean much since its at the second blind stage.

i give him say given a lack of activity still 99+,AT+,KQ(maybe.

QQ is ahead often enough even tho id say his range is a bit wider.
now thats if i push and what im expecting him to call with.

if i bet 500 with say 1000 behind and he pushes id give him AJ+,TT+. i call. these stakes i think its reasonable.

If those ranges are accurate, then I agree with a push. The wider his range is, the more I like it.

Hello my first post on FTR! Hello all I've been reading here for a while and enjoyed learning from you all.

I don't like the raise of 500 because it is over 1/3 of your stack. I've often thought that if you bet over 1/3 you may as well be allin.

So my anwer would be push given the pot is ~400

in the 6.5 I think te push is OK, you are probably getting one caller and you are ahead more often the behind

    TY.

Would anyone differ from pushing if they had AA or KK instead of QQ's?
  15. #15
This push assumes that there is a high probablilty you will get a caller, therefore pushing AA,KK is also good
