You bet too small on the flop. I'm assuming blinds are 150/300, there will be 1050 in the pot preflop, I make it 750-800 to go here.

On the turn, if my flop bet is called, I'm tempted to check as you did and fold to that big bet. This looks suspiciously like opp flopped something that has top pair crushed rather than a semi-bluffing flush draw. If you fold you still have 3360 behind which is still an OK stack at this blind level.

Honestly I'm bad at this sort of situation so I'm interested in others' opinions. I'd be tempted to lead that turn but that just seems wrong somehow...not sure why.

    without reading any other posts.

pf fine. if villians would fold after limping you could push but totally read dependant and loose. would do it myself!!!

flop, betting out seems fine since no pf raisers. id like to see you bet a bit more into 2 players as this is the minimum id bet into one player.

after his call what could he have. i think 99+,AQ+ are around as they raise pf shorthanded. so 22-88, Ax,Kx,Qx.

The call on flop represents trip 4's since he limped (tho call is strange since he isnt worried about the flush draw)or worse Q than you or PP between 55-88. or flush draw.

his bet out on turn is strange. he didnt make flush or better any range of hands we have him on. turn is a meaningless 3 so shouldnt scare you.

i push here for sure!!! i think he may be bluffing,semi-bluffing or have hands your ahead.

this is too fishy to not push it.

wow hold on here, just read tiapans post!!!! i thought he lead the turn there, why didnt you bet out here!! the worse hands i mentioned now think there ahead plus its even higher possibility he is bluffing since your showing weakness.

Ok, some fair comment. My flop bet was too small and I should've lead the turn. Usually, if I'm making a decent size flop bet and I'm called I lean towards checking unless I *know* I'm ahead. Is this a leak?

    What happened next?

    [Sep 8 07:16:42] : kevcastle called 1,200
    [Sep 8 07:16:43] : Dealing river.
    [Sep 8 07:16:43] : Board cards [Qs 4h 9h 3d 8c]
    [Sep 8 07:16:45] : kevcastle checked.
    [Sep 8 07:16:50] : CAKSTX bet 1,200
    [Sep 8 07:16:55] : kevcastle ??

I'm thinking I should've pushed like Goat said and the more I look at this hands - with the benefit of your comments! - I seem to have a lot of problems here

I'm bad at this sort of situation, not knowing whether to fire again on the turn or to check/call. Early in the tourney I don't want to commit my whole stack with KQ and a Q on the flop but at this stage with big blinds...

i wouldnt get too depressed regarding your skill level based on one hand now.

calling the turn has put you in an awful situation. 8 isnt particularly scary tho JT made a straight and vliian may have semi-bluffed with that on turn.

seems to me you were afraid of messing up here and played weakly.

This is a great shout. I called and he flipped JT. I should've bet the flop harder though he may have been the calling station type.

    Thanks guys.

no bother. as played pushing turn probably would made vllian fold. calling station prob would of called a bigger bet on flop anyway but they tend to fold draws on turn. they dont think of effective odds and actually think they may have to pay again to draw on turn.
