    Default equity

Does anyone have any links to threads or articles that explain +/- equity?

I have problems understanding +/- equity fold equity etc and want to learn about it.

I've searched the forums but I just get thousands of threads and none really explain it.

    cheers in advance.

This is a very general question, can you be more specific? There are so many different sorts of equity, which one did you want to discuss?

I want to be able to work out if I have + or - equity in any situation. I think I know what fold equity is but haven't quite grasped how to work out equity in a given situation!

in brief its your stack as a % of total stacks at table therefore your equity.

then at a given hand you have options which affect your equity like call fold, allin etc. you calc your equity on each of these options and see which gives you the best equity outcome after you decide your chances of winning the hand.

try the FAQ sticky, its under SNG Math and have a read thru.

what ive typed is less than the bare bones of it.

It's pretty difficult to explain it well. It's your expected share of a pot. Let's say you're holding a nut flush draw in a $10 pot on the turn, that gives you about a 20% chance to win the pot. 20% of $10 is $2 and that is your equity.

I think that's about right at least.
