    Default streaks of losses

so in august i hit one of the best and longest hot streaks i've had all year, winning tourney after tourney thinking i was invincible. over the last two weeks, i saw my bankroll drop dramatically and i'm having trouble getting back up. i'm nearly certain that my gameplay hasn't changed, but i can't help but question whether or not it has. i took a break for several days, but that accomplished nothing. is there anything i can do to make sure i'm on track, or should i just continue to play and see if things turn around? i'm aware that there are big ups and downs throughout long term play, but my psyche is taking a beating.

I have similar problems with the mental aspects of fluctuating success during MTT / SnG....

Basically I feel I loose focus if I take some loses in a row and gotta just snap back into gear.

I tighten my game and that usually helps me re-focus.

Post a HH and we will look at it. Or post some hands you're not sure about. That's a way to find out whether or not you're still playing okay.

This always seems to happen to me too. I win loads and my bankroll rockets. Then I'll stagnate for awhile (lose $100 one day, then win it back the next etc) and then I'll take a HUGE down swing and lose loads. Just at the point of losing my bankroll I will suddenly find form again and build it up to what it was before the crash. Then I stagnate, suffer another crash and off we go again etc Worst thing is I list a lot of my all ins and the majority of them I am leading at the point of all in, so I am suffering bad beats right? Yes....and no.

I think I've finally realised what it is, thanks to this forum. I win a load by playing tight and then as I win more I loosen up a bit and start to play crap from early positions (like KTs). I basically end up seeing more flops, hitting on more flops and then getting outdrawn more and more. Now I have tightened my game right up again and a hand like KTs I will only play from the SB, or when the game goes to four handed.

Not sure if this is the reason why my form has picked up again the last 24 hours or not (It's not uncommon for me to go on a winning streak after a long disasterous period) but in my last ten games (where I have adopted this new ultra tight game) I have been in the money places, on a 6 player SnG NL game, eight times and won three of them. Which isn't great, but isn't too bad either.

Discipline and patience is the key....

Today I have played 45 sngs... here are my results:

    ITM 10 (22%)
    3 - 7
    2 - 2
    1 - 1
    -48% ROI

    Bad streaks are no goot!

As court said, you really need to see if it is your play or just variance. Of course I made some bonehead plays today, but all in all the deck hit me in the face (in the bad way, the painful way). There are some hands from today that I wasn't sure, so I will end up posting them sometime soon here. Post hands, get feedback, keep playing, making money in the long run. I can run really really really fast.... for 20 seconds.
