    Default Sports betting noob...that's me

Hey guys, Im new to sportsbetting but thought I'd get into it cuz Im getting a little bored with the games and I consider myself to know enough to make some educated guesses.

My question is, I need explanations of types of bets made. I know what a normal parlay is, but how about a progressive parlay or a round-robin parlay. I will be placing these bets at a B&M casino so I feel I'll need to be able to explain my bets to them. Also, are these types of bets sucker bets, how about the teasers, are they really worth it?

Thanks for any advice that you could give me.

Progressive parlay: sucker's bet. You would get a better payout playing one game, then (if you win) putting the winnings + original stake on the next...rinse and repeat.

    Round-robin parlay: sucker's bet.

Teasers are worth it if you cross the critical numbers of 3 and 7.

NEVER tease across 0. What does that mean? Don't tease a -3 favorite to a +3 dog. They still pretty much have to win to cover, so the juice you're laying is simply not worth it.

ensign has good points. you're better off with single bets. as a new bettor, starting off w/ parlays, etc. will leave a bad taste in your mouth because of the consistent losses. if you parlay something small, may look to combine aspects of the same game you like, i.e. spread and totals of same game and something else. parlay at least 3 cuz at 2 you're better off single betting those.

    Thanks for the advice guys...
Thought I'd let you know I placed my first bet today, Colts -3 at Giants. Well, thank god Vinateri is there cause he made me some money. I thought it was a good bet, paying even at -3 on the road. I really did not think the game would be even close at all, but the colts D had real trouble against the run. Was this a good bet, or should I stay away from road teams being favored in the future?

Also, Im thinking of taking the Raiders tomorrow, seems like they are an underdog at home, however they are -120. Whatd ya think, take the money I made today and let er ride?
