Nah, the bet was fine. I'm betting this turn all day against this type of player and calling a push. Checking the turn has its merits, but you lose a lot of value from guys who will call down with QJ, 99, etc, which describes 100nl players fairly well.
I disagree. We can still get value from those hands on the river if we can establish that he probably didn't hit the flush.
I don't like going for pot control in this spot against this type of player. I would aim to get 2 more bets in on the turn and river (as opposed to checking the turn and getting a small bet in on the river or calling a bet). More value is to be made by continuing to bet against a loose player. Against a more solid opponent who probably won't pay off a substantional turn + river bet with a hand like QJ or an underpair yet might be induced to call a bet on the river if you check the turn (where as they may even have folded to a turn bet because of the threat of facing a big bet on the river). Against a loose player top pair is going nowhere (maybe any pair for that matter) and we have a lot of outs against a made flush already if that was the case. A bet might induce a bluff raise too, you never know.
