Thoughts on villain river play?

Ranges: I think his ranges are AK-A9 and of course 99 or 55 (to have called your large PF raise and being that he's a "donk" as you said)

I'd say your op holds AJ, if not prolly AK or AQ.....hopefully that's the case and the turn Ten put the nail in the coffin. AJ is what I'd worry about though since he didn't 3-bet the turn then pushed the river. Of course at this point you had to call him, which you did, right??

NH....you played it fine I'd say, if AJ what can ya do. As far as a set, I just didn't smell it the way this played out.

My point was supposed to be that I'd rather play this hand OUT of position and act 1st.

Does anyone think a flop raise instead of a flat $8 call would have been better at that point? I'm curious.

I didn't want to get too much money into the pot with a decent hand and not sure where I'm at.

FYI, on river, based on reads and feel of hand, I was 90% sure he had AJ when he bet that. I'd like to hear more of what people thought instead of pointing out incorrect definitions of position that have already been pointed out a few times.

I think the range is mostly A9+, A5...The flop/turn just look more like TPGK or 2 pair to me. If he is as passive as those stats, I think he'd check a set on the flop and call or maybe minraise. After he calls the turn raise I'm more confident he doesn't have a set. I'd actually have raised the turn more and probably made a crying push on the river.

I think my biggest fault of the hand was the minraise on turn. I agree with that, benny.

That being said, I was 90% sure that he had rivered with his AJ. I decided that his range was too great to trust this read complletely and crying called. He flips over AJ, hand ends like I feared. I'm trying to make more calls based on hand ranges in 6max because I suspect my fearful read folds might be a big leak. I've noticed a lot of players who make a lot more calls than me based on ranged arguments and their arguments are good. With this being said, was my reasoning to call based on ranges justified or should I have stayed with read and folded?

You already know this and it's been mentioned, but i'll say it again anyway . Build the pot on the turn making it at least 50$ to go because if he's a donk as per your read, you want to play for stacks with this hand as he's prob not folding AQ, AQ, AJ and weaker two pair (we'll ignore the river). I prob push the river regardless of what it is (if he hits his 3 outer gg).

I think your call is fine here btw though that river bet is definitely fishy strong.

No...I definitely dont like raising this flop....you dont want to go building a ginourmous pot with a mediocre holding. But that turn is just....yuk...a minraise here accomplishes nothing except giving him sweeter odds to call and see a river if he just picked up a draw.

I probably would have pushed the turn. His bets scream TPGK and the after the T hits the turn I wouldn't want to see the river. However, the opp stats seem very loose so depending on read I might have raised to $50 on the turn and pushed the river with a non-scare card. But I could be wrong.
