Give up on the flop. This flop connects with too many hands that the button will call a raise with. Plus he's a calling station.

    jeff,

As played turn and river are obviously fine (though I might valuebet the river ½ pot instead against tighter players, but against a donk its fine). But like dsaxton pointed out, cbetting this flop OOP against such a loose player will loose you money. Just c/f flop.

Does anyone think that check/folding this flop gives up too much information?

There's got to be ONE other guy out there who c-bets his hand, I just can't find any good reason too either. Although, the main purpose of this post was the turn/river play, but I guess we can delve into the flop.

jeff: don't check fold flop. i can understand how you got to the turn: you made a good PF raise, then he smooth calls the button, you cbet and that is fine. but if villain is 72/16, he probably does a fair amount of floating, so keep that in mind. if he's betting tons of turns after an OOP check by you, then you have to play to the river w/ marginal hands sometimes or he'll eat you alive w/ air. the way you positioned yourself very well by the time the river rolled around gives you such a better spot. that $40 bet was crucial to set that up, and it seems that if you lead for $40 then he can just raise you allin. so check/call because if he ends up giving you a free card, hey, free card. instead, you are OOP on the river w/ as much behind as is in the pot already and you put the tough decisions to him, hand or no hand since there is also ample room to run a line on him here w/ a bluff of your own. pushing is probably mandatory on the river as played.
In answer to your question... it depends...
