    Push preflop.

Ace hits, im holding it check to the preflop raiser.

I bet he pushes. I check behind avoiding trap. Im betting turn with the ace.

    Thats how I thought.

I don't understand why you checked the flop, the weak turn bet by him doesnt seem like much.

Bet the flop, if he re-raises you or cold calls you, you can figure he has it & shut down. I have played in lots of situations like this, you can take the pot down right here fairly often with a bet as people are scared of the ace. Just because he called you preflop doesnt mean he has one.

He's in the big blind and could well have anything here. He is probably only betting the turn as you checked post-flop and he thinks he can steal by representing the ace or the straight draw.

Bet the flop and see where you stand. If he raises you fold, so your decision will be made for you.

ripjohngotti, whatever your initial thoughts on a hand are, just do the exact opposite.

There, I've saved you the hassle of posting any hand histories forever.

I guess your all right I put him on An ace but he was in the BB making his range including middle pair, I should of bet the flop but when holding QQ KK and an ace hits and checked to me, if i bet small it could be deemed as weak and they could move in on middle pair or if they have the ace id burn up precious chips.

FFS, he has 9.75x BB, just shove preflop.

Yep. Push it all the way. As played, push the flop. If you're checking, push over his turn bet. Generally, get aggressive!

Does anyone think a player with the A folds after you've checked the flop? He may well figure that you're making a play based on his weak turn bet. Sure, he folds if he doesn't have it. But if he doesn't have it, then we don't need him to fold.

A decent alternate line is to call the turn and the river. You get to pick off a bluff that way. This is similar to the hand in which Gabe recommended checking behind with KK on an Axx flop many moons ago:
