MP2 out chips you and could bust you. I would just call in the BB with 88 and then check the flop. Ok he will then bet and you will fold but you're playing 88 for the set value.

I don't mind the raise preflop. But I think that with two overcards to your 8s you're in trouble with the cont bet. Consider that he limped originally as well and then cold called your raise, which easily extends his range to cards including a J or a T.

I like the raise, but I don't cont. bet unless there is only one overcard or no overcards on flop (generally speaking).

But doesn't the fact that the board came JJT mean that he's less likely to be holding a J?

The raise is horrible. 200 into 400 pot. Hes calling with 2 overs, 2 to 1 odds.

The guy isnt thinkinh like this but in retrospect of the hindsightedness.

I'd definitely raise to 400 instead of 300, true. Calling is a fine play also, don't get me wrong.

I'm not sure I agree with anything written so far.

Also, people don't seem to be focussing on post flop - I suspect that this is the part of the hand that taipan was originally referring to. It's a tough spot and, IMHO, very read dependant. A drawing hand is most likely so the raise makes me suspicious and I'd really want to have some history on this guy before making a move. Without a clue, I fold too.

If you had the jack would you have still bet out on the flop? This is possibly what he is thinking that you wouldnt; therefore you cant stand up to a reraise and have to fold.

    As done i fold too.
