Default 9 handed vs 10 handed

I'm used to playing SnGs starting with 10 players. I recently had a look at full tilt and mansion poker. They have 9 handed SnGs instead of 10 handed.

I decided not to join Full Tilt because of this. I play SnGs most of the time and I thought changing from 10 to 9 players would hurt the amount that I win, because I'd need to finish ITM a higher percentage of the time.

IMO, finising ITM in a 9 handed SnG is just as hard as finishing ITM in a 10 handed SnG (maybe slightly, slightly easier) - but when you do finish ITM you win as much as you would have done at a 10 handed table.

    What do you think?

There's about a 10% difference between the two.

The payout ratios are the same. 50% for 1st, 30% for 2nd, and 20% for 3rd. I've never seen a different structure for single table games. Therefore ROI is exactly the same and ITM is less relevant.

i like ten-handed, more money, and its fits my style of play better. essentially its of no difference, but my preference is due to personal experience playing many 10handed sngs.

I've found after playing both styles that it really doesn't make much of a difference. Payouts (for $5.50) are 9, 13.50 and 22.50. if you're regularly winning you can make a little more playing 10 handed, but I think it doesn't make too much of a difference.

Full tilt's blind structure is quite different from PP, PS, Titan and others... it seems to go up far more slowly, even on the turbos. I'd say that's a much bigger issue than table size.

So you agree that you can make a little more playing 10 handed than 9 handed. if that's the case i'd rather play 10 handed. in the long run that extra money you get for finishing ITM will add up.

And what about $50 every single time? And what if you play 1000s of SnGs?

I play at $11 or $22 and that extra bit of money for finishing ITM is worth quite a lot to me. $10 extra for first place is quite a difference IMO - especially in the long run
