My BR movements

    Default My BR movements

I go through phases where my BR goes up and up and up. Then I stagnate for ages and just break even or lose a little bit for ages. Then I get a phase of up and up for a while. Rinse repeat.

I know I am a winning player (I don;t win much but I am definitely winning). Is this normal?

My answer depends on what you mean by "ages" in terms of how many SnG's you play. But it sounds normal to me. It happens to me. I've stagnated for a couple months and then started dropping. Caused a bit of a panic. Either way, if you are concerned about how you're playing probably one of the best things you can do is review your hh's. It was excellent for me, at least. Otherwise if you are pretty sure you are on top of your game, then it's probably just normal fluctuations and not anything to be worried about.

If ages means a week or so and relatively few sngs then this is normal variance and nothing to worry about.

If however you're talking about months upon months and heavy play, then something is seriosuly wrong.

You'll definately benefit from what flayingsaucy quite smartly did, by going through HH's of every tournament you can.

Identify whats wrong and whats good and post some here for analysis if you wish for some constructive critiscism.

This is exactly waht happens to me, and I'll explain why I think it happens.

I go on a streak where I play some really good poker, taking care over every hand, and I get a really good return.

I then play regularly, but get complacent, and feel that I am better than the players I'm playing against, and should be winning. What happens is I try to 'outplay' them every hand, and as a result end up struggling for a bit (not majorly, just like you said, stagnant)

I then suffer a few bad beats, and start to look at how they could have been avoided, and so I return to taking care over every hand etc etc.

Just now I'm coming off the back of a good run, and I'm really focusing my energy on not playing like an idiot. I'll let you know how it goes, and if there's any advice I can give.

its probably just normal variance. sometimes you'll go on streaks where all of your hands hold up. technically they shouldnt be holding up every time, so in a sense you get lucky when AK beats Ax 5 times in a row, etc

playing more tables is what caused me to do this when i was playing SnG's. i was getting bored playing 1 or 2 tables, but when i went up to 4, i stagnated much more, and experienced much greater downswings
